For anyone interested, on of the main "studies" of rapid onset gender dysphoria has been officially retracted by the journal that published it: RETRACTED ARTICLE: Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria: Parent Reports on 1655 Possible Cases - I can't link in youtube, obviously, but for more background on this, PZ Myers of the Pharyngula blog has a post devoted to this misadventure. Just google pharyngula and it will take you to his Freethought blog. In summary it was retracted because of the lack of "informed consent" by it's subjects. All the authors did, apparently, was go to anti-trans websites and invited comments from the parents of trans individuals who opposed transitioning, and published their opinions. It's not at all clear how it managed to get published in the first place.

Not only did J.K. Rowling defend Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, lying about the extent of her involvement with fascists over the years, but in doing so Rowling outed her own fascist beliefs, as shown in our fully referenced exposé.

Cis gay male, here... I've been supporting trans issues on youtube channels for some years - not the trans channels, but some of the scientific, political and religious ones - but I must admit, I'd never heard of Keen-Minshull before. She comes across as a really nasty piece of work. Your calling out her evasion when questioned about which billionaires are funding trans causes was a nice bit of journalism! Classic Nazi dogwhistle. I'm familiar with the claim that Rowling has more than her fair share of far right and fascist buddies, and am inclined to think there's no smoke without fire. When you lie down with dogs you either are a dog, or at the very least will pick up some nasty fleas.

Funny thing with that Ron Weasley’s love interest was originally black. Black actress Jennifer Smith played a minor character of Lavender Brown in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. However, when her storyline developed into Ron Wesley's love interest and received more lines, the role was recast to white actress Jessie Cave. So not only is Rowling transphobic and homophobic, she's also racist. I'm honestly very disappointed in her, especially as a Haitian Dominican American.

To be fair, her success was less down to her ability to write and more down to an aggressive marketing campaign, so it's not a loss for the rest of us. Out of curiosity, I looked up the article on "rapid onset gender dysphoria" on Wikipedia. I like to think I'm pretty adept at reading between the lines to get to the heart of any controversy, because I've been around for awhile and I've seen and read a lot. But you don't need to be able to read between the lines to get to the heart of this one. The bigotry is splayed out where even a dummy like me can see it. "Rapid onset gender dysphoria" (in other words; suddenly becoming trans just because it's trendy) is a myth perpetrated and perpetuated by anti-trans bigots. Case closed.

Cho Chang and Parvati Patil. But I mean she wrote a story in which house elves were happy to be enslaved, and the only person trying to stand up for their freedom was relentlessly mocked by all the protagonists and proven wrong for doing so. So that immediately disqualifies Rowling from having anything positive to say about POC.

Another great vid exposing reactionaries. Keep up the good work! Just a small correction: the poem originally was written as “First they came for the Communists…” Being changed to “socialists” is another subtle example of revolutionary legacy being blunted and revised for reactionary/opportunist purposes as Lenin wrote
@literaterose6731
Жыл бұрын
Interestingly, it’s not that anybody has *changed* the poem, it’s that most people misquote and/or shorten it. It does begin with “Communists,” as you correctly note, but the second stanza is “Socialists.” The two were (and are) not synonyms, or “socialism” isn’t some softer version of “communism”-while they have, of course, a great deal of overlap, as organized groups they were, and are, separate entities. (And the Nazis had specific beefs with each.) The other two stanzas before the famous “And there was no one left to speak out for me” ending cite (in order) Trade Unionists and Jews. Often the trade unionists are left out, but I’ve seen plenty of misquotes that add extra groups in, as well!
@EssenceOfThought

Actually you're both wrong. Martin Niemöller changed his poem to better suit his audience as he often recited it. The "First they came for the Socialists" is simply one of the more famous renditions.

Interesting. I suppose he felt he had reason to do that, but I still can’t say I like it. The friekorps and the proper Nazis were keen on who their enemies were and given that the SPD dialed 1 800 friekrp to stop the commies from mucking up the capitalist loving liberal order, changing it to socialists seems an unwarranted kindness. I don't understand why trans women will talk about transphobia that affects ALL trans people but then only use the word "transmisia." If you're ACTUALLY only talking about trans women, that's fine. But it hurts so much to see every transfemme youtuber continually perpetuate transmasculine erasure, refusing to say "transphobia" when it's the appropriate word.
@EssenceOfThought

Trans-misia, from mīséō the Greek word for hatred, puts the focus of anti-trans bigotry where it belongs without stigmatising people with actual phobias. The word you are thinking of is transmisogyny. They are not the same thing.
