I just love watching the 1st grader that wear glasses and holds the school banner. She is usually smiling and very energetic, which kind of reminds me of Chippi-Chan when she was in this band.

The first 9:30 minutes can be skipped. What these youngsters do, is fantastic. Playing so well is good. Playing so well by heart, without reading sheet music, is very good. And doing this while remembering and doing all those dance steps, in such a precise way, is fantastic! And on top of that there are smiles and laughter! Respect! There are many more videos with Kyoto Tachibana SHS on KZitem. I have seen many of them :-)
Fico muito feliz quando eu estou ouvindo e vendo está BANDA e ORQUESTRA fazendo um trabalho totalmente profissional com esses jovens músicos JAPONESES parabéns, BRASIL ADORA.
Who ever has been teaching this band needs credit. GREAT JOB 👏👍🇯🇵💪🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

The credit goes to the students themselves. The Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School band is self-guided by the students. It's an after-school activity club and each year, a small group of senior class student leaders select the music they want to play and then create the dance choreography steps to match, then they teach and train the rest of the band including instrument lessons. This process goes in cycles and every year has been the same since 1961. There are some adults around but they only act as music consultants and they do not teach. Due to their uniqueness, they are considered by many people around the world as the best band in the world either high school or college. Their videos on KZitem have been viewed over a billion times due to their popularity. Just a week ago the Newsweek magazine selected the band as one of the one-hundred Japan treasures. The band was invited to Taiwan last October to perform for the president and other world leaders when that country celebrated its Independence Day - kzitem.info/news/bejne/k4B7q4eIiYJ_q3o. Also, the band will be participating in the 2025 Pasadena Rose Parade for the third time. Here's the video of the band performing for the Rose Parade chairwoman when she visited the school last year - kzitem.info/news/bejne/xn6nnId4nYGqeJw.

They teach themselves. Kanehiro-san is the music faculty advisor for the club (this is a club activity). Shima-san is the marching advisor. They advise, but the students teach each other. The senpai (senior class students) train the kohai (junior class students). Senpai lead the practices and teach new members how to march, how to breath, and how to perform. All members hold various club staff positions (uniform staff, attendance staff, point staff, etc.). Senpai in the Marching Composition Staff and the Section Leaders decide the music, the music arrangement, and the choreography. The faculty advisors coach but have no decision authority. The best example of this is that former music advisor Tanaka-san had tried for years to take Sing3 out of the set list, but was always overruled by the students.

@@bellesogne Thank You,very informative,a lot of work is involved.Never imagined that. They are a great and fun band to watch👍🇯🇵👏🙏🇯🇵🥰
One of the cultural improvement under new Band Director Yutaka Kaneshiro and club advisor (since April 2018) and Band Marching Coach Nanaho Shima (since June 2020) I think. They don't steal the spotlight from the Band Presidents and DMs! In the past, Band President were kept unknown and "someone" would come fully dressed and "walking" with a bigger mace when they are already 3 DMs "dancing" in orange uniforms and standard batons.
