Chillies came into existence in India in the 16th century either from Mexico to Goa or Vasco Da Gama to India. Basically there are 2 varieties- Red and Green. Scoville scale is used to measure the amount and level of chilli is spicy.
Bhut Jolokia (Ghost pepper) is the spiciest chilli fount in North East. Also, Dalle Khursani is also very powerful chilli.
Chapata mirch, Dhani red mirch from Bengal, Byadgi Chilli are among the powerful chillis.
Kashmiri lal mirch (500units), Degi mirch (1500-2000 units), Bell peppers(0 units) are to be known for colour and least powerful chillis.
Jawala mirch has 20k-30k units and Jalapeno peppers has 2k-8k units on Scoville scale.
