So many tv shows have terrible endings, but 24 absolutely nailed it. This was a great way to end the show (the half season 9 doesn’t really count). I’m currently re-watching season 3 and Chloe is so awkward but she grows into a really iconic tv character. Her and Jack really carried the show from season 3 onwards. It was the perfect ending to have him thank her for looking after him 😢

This was the most emotional moment in 24 history. Even more emotional than Jack's goodbye with Kim in season 2. This ending showed that Jack and Chloe were the real love story of this show all along ever since season 3. Two best friends who fell in love with each other without realizing it. Like Mulder and Scully. This ending was definitely the most romantic moment in 24's history. Jack and Chloe talked like parting lovers. Jack clearly wants to say whats really in his heart but he can't because he knows she won't believe him. He knows he's going to have to prove to her that his love for her is real. All he knows is that he's never loved any other woman the way he loves Chloe and it scares him. He knows that Chloe thinks she doesn't matter to him. He knows that he never hasn't quite opened up to her emotionally and he's taken her for granted so no wonder she feels this way. But little did Chloe know that the reason why Jack stayed in New York was for her only. If something would've happened to her because he wasn't there for her, he wouldn't been able to live with himself. During their stay in NY, their relationship had grown to be more than friendship. He wasn't even happy about seeing Renee again. He knew she was compulsively attracted to him so he didn't want to give her any wrong ideas. He went to undercover with her because he didn't trust one bit. He even didn't want to work with her again only this time he didn't want to give Chloe any wrong ideas about him and Renee. His heart was with Chloe. His concern for Renee was half hearted, some of it was even pretense. He played along with her so he could make sure she gets admitted to Psych Ward. I think it was more harder for Jack to leave Chloe behind than it was to leave Kim. Chloe always mattered to Jack more than Audrey or Renee ever did. Renee was a toxic distraction for Jack and his relationship with Audrey was never meant to be but still necessary because it was a catalyst for Jack to finally realize what Chloe really means to him. As for Chloe, Morris was always an obligation to her because of his alcoholism. Chloe married Morris because she considered it a moral responsibility and their second marriage was because he armed nuclear weapons for Fayed and for a child. Chloe and Morris were only legally married but they never had an ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship. Everything she did was all for him, giving him what he wanted. It actually makes sense that Chloe would do that because she clearly takes responsibility and moral obligation very seriously. Chloe treated Morris like he was her responsibility. His constant jealousy and bitterness because she had close male friends with whom she actually had REAL EMOTIONAL bonds. Morris always tried to create a real relationship between him and Chloe but her personality/nature never allowed it. Morris's death didn't really matter to Chloe but her son's death did. I always got the an impression that Morris was emotionally abusive toward Chloe, considering how he treated her in season 6. Morris had become co-depended on Chloe for his sobriety because even when he knew that they didn't have authentic relationship, he still refused to let her go. He had practically made Chloe his life purpose. He also wanted Chloe to leave CTU in order to be with him and their son but she never would do that because CTU gave her life a purpose and she didn't feel that having a family/domestic life gave her that. But Jack always accepted her for who she truly was and vice versa. Chloe is the only woman who can stand the demands of being with Jack. She knows how to live in his world, she knows she has to keep a certain distance from him at certain times because that ensures her survival.
@jaffarebellion292

If we're being realistic, the fact they never got together is probably why she survived the show. The writers have a pretty big torture-boner for Jack, and his loved ones tend not to last long.
@mariharkonen6962
2 жыл бұрын
@@jaffarebellion292 I agree! Almost everyone whom Jack has been romantically or sexually involved with have either died or gone mentally insane. The only ones who managed to survive are Kate Warner, Diana Huxley and Marilyn Bauer. Maybe because he managed to break up with them before his attachment to them became too serious. But there is one thing i noticed in LAD: during those 4 years being out of each other's lives, Jack and Chloe were very depressed and very angry. Something had changed between them much more than ever before. Jack was openly jealous and angry about Adrian and Chloe's relationship, he's not okay with someone else taking his place in her life. His feelings for her had definitely changed big time. The case with Jack and Chloe is that when they're together, they're stronger and when they're apart, they're at their lowest. I believe that Chloe could be perhaps the only woman in his life who would not die or lose her mind for being romantically or sexually involved with him. Unlike all those other women in Jack's life, Chloe knows how to live and survive in his world. She always knows the reality of the situation so she's always careful. She can handle the demands of being part of his life.

This was a perfect ending to his CTU days. There should not have been a Season 9. Instead they shouldve done a solo movie with Jack in another country with a whole new cast no Chloe. Honestly, never having a Bond, Bauer, Bourne crossover movie was a travesty of a missed opportunity. Hollywood always finds a way to miss lightning in a bottle, even when in possession of a bottle which label reads "place outside in rain. will catch lightning."

I think they were actually planning to, at one point, but then Kiefer got in trouble. Fox should have known better than to try and do "24" without Kiefer Sutherland. That's only worked in one other country's version of "24": India's. And I think the only reason it worked there was because they chose Anil Kapoor for the Jack Bauer role.
