This was the opening to one of Jack's 1958-'59 CBS specials, co-sponsored by Benrus Watch Co. and Greyhound Bus Lines. Note that David Rose is conducting the orchestra, and not Jack's regular conductor, Mahlon Merrick. But Ralph Levy is producer/director; Jack insisted on using him for his specials after he left the regular Benny program.

It's the same David Rose who composed the musical score for Bonanza, Red Skelton and other classic television programs. By the way, I believe this was the same year Benny won the Emmy. It's amazing how some young people are catching on to him. My kids love him, and they've shown their friends the same selections -- and they enjoy them, too. Maybe there IS hope.

Again, this was one of Jack Benny's "monthly" specials (sometimes one or two months apart) that aired on CBS during the 1958-'59 season, not his regular program, 'WSenator'. Don Wilson only appeared as his announcer/supporting cast member on his bi-weekly [weekly, after 1960] series- ditto Mahlon Merrick, who arranged and conducted Jack's radio and TV orchestras for 30 years.
