The bit about the Mighty Mo was about the battleship USS Missouri that went aground and it took the Navy a lot of work getting it free.

They only pretended to set it free. That was the missouri compromise

Seemed pretty ironic that they were so worried about heart health, but advertising cigarettes! Were they so clueless about cigarette smoking?

Different societal attitudes, but also Big Tobacco actually deliberately buried/suppressed a report detailing the dangers of smoking. They used their power & wealth to keep it from being released to the public because it might affect their profits. Truth wasn't discovered until decades later. Not to mention that tobacco companies had 'playbooks' which they used such as casting doubt on science, lobbying, and fake news/flat out lying.

No, I think most people at least had a notion cigarettes were harmful to a person's health. Thus was the power of advertising and celebrity. Also, unless you've forgotten . . . L.S. M.F.T. L.S. M.F.T.
