whenever i slide my fingers to transition between chords, it makes an extremely loud sound that cuts through the notes and sounds terrible. you probably know what im talking about but i dont know what its called. is there anyway to prevent that? like certain strings? or is it just my technique that sucks

You are a very efficient and to the point on line instructor. If I want to learn a song I find myself looking for your face. I bypass all the others and go directly to your instruction. Keep up the the good work! you are very good at what you do. Thank you for soothing my soul by getting me into the tunes I want to play and feel. For the JJ "Flake" tune I go to the open C to give my left hand a break from holding the bar, but I`ll switch back and forth.... I`m looking for your face next for Cecilia and Mrs Robinson from Simon and Garfunkel... If it`s not out there yet... Could you do those two? Thanks again!

@hugenoodles lemme give you a tip that might help, it helped me when i "worked it out" - if you struggle with barre chords, make sure that when youre looking down at the strings of your guitar, you can only see the top string - when I was learning, id have the guitar tilted back a little so i could see all 6 strings so i knew where to place fingers. Once you know where to place fingers, tilt the guitar forward so you can only see the top string - youll find you can barre easier without pain.

Hey You are awesome first of all!! I have trouble with keeping the rhythm with the strumming pattern. I get it the first time but when I have to loop it I lose track. The correct strumming is actually "down up slap up up up slap". Than he throws in a muted "down up" after each chord. If you listen to the song you will be able to hear this clearly. Marty being the great guitar player/teacher he is, probably knows this and just taught the strumming the way he did for the sake of beginners because it matches up with a lot of Jacks other songs. But if you want to play it 100% correctly, follow the pattern above.

If you have problems with palm muting (chucking), I suggest you to mute strings by just squeezing the bar chord, in this case its possible because entire song is in barrre chords, so by squeezing your are muting all the strings cuz point finger touches all the strings, and even if you dont have problems with palm chucking, barre chord chucking is awesome, and required for reggae and other cool rhythmic, great lesson Marty btw! Keep rockin! :)
