I believe he actually enjoys playing it. As he said on Conan a few years ago: "People come up to me all the time and they think that it makes me mad for some reason, I don't know why they think it upsets me. But I think it's the most.. As a songwriter, that's the greatest thing that could ever happen. It becomes folk music because people take it over... And I don't know of that many songs where they are not saying words, they're chanting a melody. So as a songwriter, that's pretty unbelievable that that connected with people in that way."

it got old ~20 years ago when it was played constantly on the radio and mtv when they still had music videos, and now you hear it at virtually every college sports game by the band. not sure if you were around when it came out, but it got completely overplayed very quickly.

@@cameronfarris7171 If I remember correctly, I think it's a Kay hollowbody (mid 20th century department store guitar) played through a Digitech Whammy pedal set an octave down, and then fed through a Big Muff Pi Fuzz box into a Sears' Silvertone amp.

he got it when he helped a friend move to a different appartement. The Friend gave it to him as a Gift. He's used it ever since and fixed it with tape. His other Iconic Guitar (the Red and White elctric guitar from the music video of seven nation army) as an extremely cheap plastic instrument for absolute beginners. He likes using stuff until they break and is not a fan of new and high end shit.

This is an absolutely incredible performance. Jack did such a great job getting the literally every person in the crowd involved. Using their chanting to "replace" the instruments for one verse was a stroke of genius. That's what the greatest performers do, and he's clearly a great performer.

I went to my first Jack White concert in April 2022. When it came time for Seven Nation Army, having heard it so many times, especially so many times at sports contests, I had a pretty negative attitude going in, but after the first three seconds I was, oh yeah, this is the reason people want to sing this all the freaking time.

Yeah it was really good! It's crazy how famous this song has gotten. Most people don't even know the actual song, just because the football chant is so famous now. It's becoming one of the most recognizable songs on the planet year after year. That's gotta be a crazy feeling if you're the writer of it
