The best thing about this whole bit is that if you ask any American who has worked in customer service, they will tell you first hand that they only behave like that because they get fired if they're not enthusiastic enough
@melloschocolatecake

Can confirm. Unless it's a smaller niche store where it's customers have a certain interest and/or are a confused relative shopping for the holiday, most of the employee's either fake their emotions or are too new to the retail world to have had their souls crushed yet. Go back to that big chain store a month later and that same new person will have the dead-eyes and a soulless smile. Unless you are a regular (thus can relax around you), most couldn't care less.
@thomasthomasthomas296

yeah, they force people to be fake in american "customer service", I can say this because I am American. I find many of these same fake people extremely difficult to deal with because they don't know what they are doing half the time (specifically at the desk marked "customer service" where you have to do returns)

@@thomasthomasthomas296 that honestly just comes down to poor training. I got lucky with getting one training session on a day where we weren't really busy. It only occurred to me after a friend told me about his job experience that a lot of jobs absolutely suck. Busier places like Walmart or fast food restaurants rush the training process so much because the trainer has to balance their own job and training, which can be pretty stressful. It's also really overwhelming on the receiving end even when you get a lot of training because you're not exactly a complete expert with 5 years of experience in the job yet. Half of the time you don't know where stuff is, and the other half you're given a scenario that you weren't trained for, so you have to consult someone else to make up for that inexperience.

I feel sorry for you. No one should have to put up with people who are disrespectful and mistreat them. Customer or not. As a European I have to say that I would appreciate it if spending money was a bit more fun. I’m tired of being treated like a major inconvenience everywhere I go and politely ask for something as a customer. Sometimes I tend to be… not so friendly anymore, because I’m sick and tired of going to a restaurant, spending a lot of money an having heartburn after the meal - most of the time not because of the bad food, but because of the way I was treated/ignored. If I ever make it to New York I will definitely visit the Apple Store. It will be very easy for them to make me buy a lot of stuff that I don’t even need 😂

British people are grumpy?! When I came to live in England for a year my first week there made me realise what a horribly grumpy person I am because everyone was just so damn nice. My first time in a British supermarket and I bumped into an elderly man with my shopping trolley. He apologized, smiled and asked: "Was I in your way, dear?" I almost melted. Peri peri is a type of Southern African pepper. It’s considered a level 8 on the Scoville scale with about 50,000-175,000 SHU, which is about 6-40 times hotter than a jalapeño depending on the pepper. Funnily enough, though, it was originally produced in Portuguese owned territories, which is an interesting coincidence.
@klimtkahlo
2 жыл бұрын
Not sure you can call it a coincidence. Piri-piri did not exist before the Portuguese so… and yes the pepper is originally from the Americas and was grown in Africa but I think it is safe to say Portuguese created the sauce. Coffee is not native of Italy but we always think Italy when we speak of espresso, right? Right.
@killorbekilledqueen0559
2 жыл бұрын
@@klimtkahlo I meant a coincidence as in it’s funny he said it was something something Portuguese widows tears, to clarify. I also referred to the name of the pepper specifically, not the sauce; I don’t know what you use the peppers for, as I’ve never had Nandos or Peri peri and really was just curious as to what was being referred to generally.

we just need a better balance of the customer is always right vs the customer is never right. it's a hard balance because of the legal, corporate, business end vs the private, public customer end, but both have got to bend, and unfortunately, it's usually the customer bending while the business is sayin', "you're right, but please accept this bs". hahaha , and the customer sayin', "okay, but I"ll complain enough to drain a profit off ya', while throwin' good employees under the bus that were just followin' boss's orders. It's a sad cycle.

I find in the end of the process, it's my "inability" to speak the language does the trick...usually. There are times the person I'm dealing with speaks English. But often enough they don't so eventually they give up and do the right thing. By that I mean I've purchased X and when getting home the X is broken in some fashion. Or I find that what I purchased is too big and won't fit in the space even though I thought it would. I hate metric.
