Great episode! Just throwing it out there: if you want to watch Drunken Master 2, there is a Warner Archive Collection Blu Ray available which includes the original cut of the movie and audio in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. The subtitles aren't the most ideal (either dubtitles or a more literal translation that can be a bit clunky at times), but probably the best we can legally get in North America anytime soon.

If you like Drunken Master 1, check out Fearless Hyena and Young Master. The exact same formula of Drunken Master but perfected. Fearless Hyena is also Jackie’s directorial debut.

I think as far as Jackie Chan scandals go, him apparently alienating his daughter because she is somewhere on the LGBTQQ+ spectrum is far worse than "unapologetically [sic] supports China". China has over a billion people in it, but his daughter being homeless with a father who is apparently too judgemental seems far worse.

I love how Jackie Chan does his fighting sequences. Bruce Lee was a legend but Jackie Chan made martial arts relatable. He does get kicked in the face. He does get knocked on his butt sometimes. The outtakes were especially good because it shows he’s not Superman. He’s every bit as fallible as his audience

Miracles is a great film from start to finish Anita Mui and Bill Tung are excellent in that film. The cinematography is impeccable. Jackie has said it's his best directed film he has ever done. It's his own version of a old Hollywood film. It was filmed on the old Shaw Brothers film set. Drunken Master 2 was Jackie Chan's answer to all the wire fu period martial arts film that was coming out in Hong Kong during the 1990s. Drunken Master the first one was directed by Yuen Woo Ping who did the fight scenes for The Matrix Films and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

I just want to say, as a huge Jackie Chan movie fan and kung fu movie fan in general, you all picked right. Drunken Master II (often titled "Legend of the Drunken Master for release here in America) is not only I think the pinnacle of a Jackie Chan action movie, but also just hands down one of if not the best action movies of all time. Not only are the fight scenes jaw-dropping perfection, but even the plot that happens between the fight scenes is fun, funny, and provides the proper emotional through-line to make the fight scenes they string together more emotionally impactful. The stepmother is such a great character, she really brings a lot of life to what could be an otherwise cookie-cutter story. I am very biased but great video, excellent work.

I recently rewatched Rumble in the Bronx for the first time in a while. That movie is bananas. The last 15-20 minutes is so cartoony and a huge tonal shift. While the movie is kinda goofy throughout, it's also plenty dark. Then the whole thing turns Benny Hill, when all of a sudden Jackie battles, then commandeers, a hovercraft.
