Malia... I am not going way back in these comments but Have you ever heard Smokey and the miracles do the song. I am pretty sure smokey had a hand in writing it too. Just wondering because to me (like you) I am set in my opinion that it is incomparable. I see you are young compared to me (70) and probably heard this MJ version first... that seems to be a big factor in peoples "likes". I thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiasm MJ put in to this though and it is one of his best. Each his own huh? peace

Luke Lucas and Shaheen Jafargholi have amazing performances of this song as well. Such wonderful little talents they are. However, the versions I've heard of them, I just don't seem to feel the SOUL like in this. Michael's really projects the pain and heartache in the lyrics. Of course I am biased to the version I heard as a kid. Fiftymerc is absolutely right about that. =)

Delicadamente bella, surreal... Un niño cantando una canción de adulto, interpretada con tanta destreza! Es más que cantar.

I like to listen to Michael's voice when he was a kid when I am lonely.. It makes my heart happy somehow. I like to listen to Michael's adult voice when I am feeling happy.. Ohhh his voice give me so much happiness. Just amazing..

I have listened to MJ's version, Smokey's version and The Temptation's version. I have to admit, the Jackson 5 version has me shook. The beginning run was amazing. The ending falsetto gave me goosebumps. The other versions had more maturity, but MJ's vocals, power and soul packed so much into this song. I was mesmerized.
