For awhile, he lived in Orange County, CA, same time I did. He is a couple years older than me. In my late teens, I saw him more than a few times at The Troubador, The Mecca in Orange, The Golden Bear across from the pier in Huntington Beach, and probaly 15 other places over the last decades. We all have artists who shaped our lives, but I am profoundly fortunate that Jackson Browne first entered my life when I was 17, sitting in a three dollar seat, 10 feet away from him. Priceless!

toddcharry "Having a soft heart in a cruel world takes courage not weakness". Those are such true words. Being true to yourself and not allowing anyone or anything to change that, takes courage and strength. It's easy to follow the pack. It takes strong character to walk alone not hiding behind a mask of indifference. It's a shame that more people aren't willing to do the same. It sure would make this world a much nicer and kinder place. Allow yourself to be genuine.

Alex Whitaker ...we can look back and say that we loved this song,... those words and we didn't think for one moment.... I wonder how old the person is who's singing this song ..or who wrote this song ..if I had done that I would never have found the river..or the circle game..or Fainleog by the gloaming.

I think its a joke, but don't cite me on it, that he was already this world weary at 16. On the other hand, I've known a handful of songwriters at this level (or near) by 16, so its not that remarkable.

None. Buddy Holly wrote "Love's Made a Fool of You" when he was 16, by the way.

Remembering had Jackson in my home by the beach. The whole band was there. I made them a lobster dinner? Such great person Jackson is and his band I can't say enough about them all. Great Memories in Portland Maine!!

When I was sixteen fifty years ago I knew nothing, from where does this music come Why are we all so touched by it ? Look at the comments they are spread over a few years yet we're of one mind. The same emotions the same pain & joy joined by this music, when I think about it, it's a special moment.

This is one of the all time classic songs of all time.. I have 2 sons and both, in bands, love it. I am happy that they listen to this classic and think and appreciate the timeless artists, like , Jackson Browne, etc.,who wrote songs that transcend trends and the media.

Well I've been out walking I don't do that much talking these days These days- These days I seem to think a lot About the things that I forgot to do For you And all the times I had the chance to And I had a lover It's so hard to risk another these days These days- Now if I seem to be afraid To live the life I have made in song Well it's just that I've been losing so long I'll keep on moving Things are bound to be improving these days These days- These days I sit on corner stones And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend Don't confront me with my failures I had not forgotten them

This song was one of my constant melancholy friends during my reckless adolescent years...It somehow has found its way to my door again in my autumn years and with an entirely new meaning.

One day I got a call from Jackson Browne asking me to build him a guitar. We became friends and he knew this was my favorite song, so Jackson played ‘These Days’ with this guitar I built him for over 10 years. I love Jackson, he’s my friend.
