They yearn for the benefits yet don't grasp the true concept of HARDWORK ....the concept of DELAYED GRATIFICATION... Saving Money....most important SACRIFICE. It starts with someone working and building and saving.....not spending every Dollar as soon as they get it. Having the ability (saved $$$) to help others (family) build ....to invest in their education or housing or business. Someone sacrifices so the next generation of people prosper....Can't that Black America if you spend all your money on Luxury items (Designer Brand anything) even worse Blacks incur way touch DEBT for Cars...Clothes....Jewelry Things that hold no value. I can go on and on.....but you smart ones get it......sadly there's to many of our people that don't. So are we going to pretend PWIs don’t have these issues??? Actually, they are worse in a lot of ways. But when you have millions of dollars coming in, it is easier to hide the discrepancies. Crime??… I played football for a PWI, and the school I went to, girls were getting raped in broad daylight on campus, we had to develop a POST certified police department just for our campus. From break ins to drug selling, to rape, shootings,stabbings, you name it. The point is that I am growing weary of us trashing our own institutions as if these things don’t happen at PWIs. I know we have problems but you don’t see other people trashing the university of Alabama when these things happen there. We eat our own

Deion is a grown man who made a choice. I do think if he would have stayed at JSU it would have killed the SWAC I don't think it would lure others to come. Those "others" could come now and they wont because they don't want too. Deion plan was going to be, to bring JSU to Conference USA or one of these other Divisions and that really would have made people mad because he would have pulled them out of SWAC. I refuse to hate on a brother, sit back and watch the man work. This is not the end of HBCU's for me I'm still gone support JSU and Southern. I think that what happened at JSU and the negative reaction is part of the reason we as a collective is still where we are on the global competitive scale. Incompetent and small minded leadership more concerned about personal enrichment than about community and collective empowerment. Prime example of "If you can't be big in small things, you will be small in big things." Imagine what that college president would do with huge bowl game and television contracts when he couldn't keep his grubby hands off the attendance money? He should be replaced ASAP.

The President not wanting him to coach in his last game is just ridiculous to me. You’re supposed to be the leader of something, but that’s not a leader move. A real leader would be thanking coach prime for everything he’s done for the school and football program over the past three years and allowing him to coach in his final game. Then he should publicly say he’s committed to keeping JSU on top and go from there. He’s acting like every random person on Twitter and KZitem.

Coach Prime did a lot for Jackson State University and I'm happy that he's on to a better opportunity. They (Jackson State University) didn't do right by him and the city of Jackson Mississippi so he got tired of the disrespect and moved on to a better job. Our people expect us to work for less but do more for them on a discount which is playing with people's intelligence. They broke into his house and stole him and his son's cars. The university didn't protect him by putting security in place to make sure that didn't happen. They didn't even pay him enough and they lied to him about him getting money from sponsors or ticket sales. We're our own worst enemies. Much love to you Coach Prime.

If the accusations that have surfaced surrounding the behavior of JSU are valid, than they left Deon no choice, he had to leave. Not only did they not appreciate the opportunities and avenues that Deon had the knowledge and ability to open up for them and the entire HBCU community. They chose to treat him disrespectfully, and failed to honor their word. If the accusations are valid, there are people in the administration who shouldn’t be there, starting with the President. If the accusations are valid there is corruption taking place, that’s a management problem. If the accusations are valid based on Deon’s results, the boosters and alumni who actually support the program financially, and even the citizens/businesses should be demanding answers and a change in leadership at JSU. If the accusations are valid, then as always we are our own worst enemy. Now we’ll waste time being distracted and a lot of us talking when we should be listening and watch another opportunity go by. The thing we won’t hear is that there are too many black folks in this country with dollars for the HBCU’s to be in this situation in the first place. We are still divided and haven’t the basic principle of life. There’s strength in numbers and when those numbers are truly unified with the same goal and desire to achieve it, true freedom.

@Salaam71

That is not why they "split". Malcolm had already been out of the NOI for a few months when he went on his hajj. And no that wasn't his first time hearing about or seeing "white Muslims". That was always taught in the NOI. Besides Malcolm had already been to Arabia and other countries with white Muslims while he was still in the NOI. Actually, Elijah Muhammad went to Mecca before Malcolm in 1959. The same goes for the "affairs". He knew about the wives around 2 years before leaving the NOI. Also, Malcolm's views on separation* (not segregation) never changed. There is nothing wrong with in the way he briefly described the split. ✌🏾

The Jackson city community also wanted to join Sanders' bandwagon to move Jackson State up to FBS as well. HBCUs' need to look at being an all HBCU conference because you are losing money staying at a low level. Going FBS could bring in the money, and all that. Even the SWAC commish said he wants to move that conference as a whole to FBS. There are several schools there are too poor, or very small to make the changes to join FBS. Jackson State as one of the larger being held back like schools like UAPB.
