Black people are so delusional and silly to always want to be inclusive-invite everyone to the cookout- and form so-called alliances with others who have no genuine interest in being in a true alliance with you. While diversity is such a great thing in your mind (I guess the same way integration was all-important back in the 60s), Black people still remain on the bottom, even Latinos & Hispanics make more on average than we do. Meanwhile, Black people hate other Black people, but feel proud to see a Latino drum major leading JSU. SMH.

There seems to be a fascination among us about the guy's skin color. So many posts refer to the young gentleman as the Latino....Why can't he be just another student? Black folk has always embraced inclusion and have fought the good fight to be seen, not as a novelty piece, but as a natural part of the beautiful tapestry of American multiculturalism. With that in mind, I understand the HBCU traditions, but due to gross mismanagement (on all levels), underfunding, etc... Many HBCUs are now becoming public universities (for example: BCC is now BCU) that are funded by TAX payers. Consequently, HBCU colleges that have been historically overlooked by other ethnic groups have now become palatable. Why??? For numerous reasons. Historically Black colleges on average are less costly to attend, have smaller, more intimate learning environments; Though underrated, has always provided Top Tier Degree Programs that are second to none.; As a matter of policy, actively recruit students from other ethnicities across the spectrum of disciplines (The Arts, Sports, Science/Medicine, etc.). And the list goes on and on. What we are witnessing is the HBCU's transition into the 21st Century The challenge will be whether they can hold on to their historical identity while fully embracing total inclusion across the board. So yes, we will continue to see what was once thought to be unthinkable. But we must be careful about these things. Once upon a time in the not-so-distant past, white folk thought the same about us, yet we fought tooth and nail to integrate. Many black folks died marching and fighting for INCLUSION. We now find ourselves in a unique position. Will we now be the oppressor???
