Greetings, Ms Meadows, from San Diego's resident Rushoholic. The live version of JL is originally from the 40+ anniversary concert tour (their last) in 2015. This was filmed from one show of a 2-night stand in their hometown of Toronto. It's available on the DVD called R40. This was a short tour made of 35 shows in 34 cities starting in Oklahoma City and finishing in Los Angeles where they rehearsed in an unmarked warehouse before the tour. The Los Angeles show was Rush's final show and the 18th or 19th I'd seen of theirs since the '70s. The parting was just as sad even if I had the time and money to see them more. "Jacob's Ladder" comes from the story in The Bible of a ladder reaching to Earth from Heaven on which angels move to and from. The guys first recorded JL in '79 for the album PERMANENT WAVES from 1980 and the video may have been fan generated as it came out during the years since. Either way, Rush never disliked it. One of Alex Lifeson's better guitar solos is punctuated with lightning strikes that video had to slow down and by car traffic flow that the video had to speed up all in the same frame. For now, Ms Meadows, you stay classy...

@@WhimsyMeadows I always remember the early scene in War Of The Worlds (2005) when the "storm" hit. They were remarking how strange it is that the wind is going TOWARD the storm. And then the wind stops completely. THIS is how an actual supercell storm behaves. The updraft is so powerful that the wind is actually going toward the center. And the eye of the storm crosses overhead and the wind drops to zero. It's erie to say the least. And then the wind picks back up, but going in the opposite direction as before. These are "mini-hurricane" systems that are so powerful that they have an "eye of the storm". So beautiful, and yet so dreadful.

@@mightyV444 , yes you always see Alex messing around with his pedals. Of course much of it is for his guitar effects but he certainly uses both synth and bass pedals as needed. @@joesixpack8305 - Nope, that really _is_ a 12-string Ged's playing in the 'Exit...' version of 'Xanadu'! 😀 That fact also is audible in the descending melody he plays towards the end of the song! 🙂 Do an online search for an image of a Rickenbacker 12-string headstock, please! You may be surprised 😁
