lol but even if you were born in the 90's you were still too young to appreciate that music back then. So if you were born in 1991, you're already late to the wave of NWA, public enemy, KRS 1, Kool G Rap, Too short, Slick Rick, Big daddy Kane, etc. By the time you turned six, we was already missing Tupac. @@OGPeanutbutter I think you misread or misunderstood what I was saying. I was implying if you were born in the 90's, you were too young to appreciate the music at that given time. 1990 to 2000 is 10yrs. What's the oldest anyone born between that time could be? You gain a better understanding of things in general, as you get older. I was not saying you cannot appreciate it now (2020). Hope that still doesn't go over your head.

As an avid hip hop head I don't get how you don't like the 90's or think that era "wasn't all that great". What drew me in and submerged me into hip hop was looking back at all the content I missed out on. While also recognizing and praising my favorite current artists. I'm 20. I missed damn near everything. But hearing the 90's era now makes me appreciate an art and culture I might otherwise think was devoid of talent/content because of what I was subjected to hearing on the radio in my era.

When I was 13, and my friend played me Big Daddy Kane’s Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy and I heard it fir the first time, it was our anthem all summer long. 😂 omg we played that album to DEATH. LITERALLY. My boom box by the pool ate her tape. 😂🤣 there were tears. God I love hip hop, and have fir most of my life. ♥️ If I had to name MC that I feel never gets the recognition and shine that he absolutely deserves, and is never in a top 5?? Mos Def. Omg his 3rd album (counting his Blackstar collab with Kweli) The New Danger is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made IMO opinion. If you’ve never heard it, go, right now, and check that out. It’s epic. That album is absolutely perfect. A masterpiece. That no one ever talks about. Just like how he’s universally ignored and overlooked. Very unjustly overlooked. That’s just MO.
IMO its absolutely unacceptable to be a rapper, and not write your own lyrics. When you consider the fact other genres of music like rock, jazz, Piano, singers with back round bands, all involves that artist playing an instrument, and the incredible talent and time it takes to learn the craft of playing guitar, drums, saxophone, all these other genres of music involve the artist actually playing an instrument. In hip hop its all about lyrical ability, style, cadence , flow, so to give somebody like a Drake a pass, is absolutely unacceptable. If your gonna proclaim yourself the top dude, you gotta be an MC, Master of Ceremonies. and btw big fucking shouts to Kool G Rap, because G Rap is most likely your favorite rappers, favorite rapper. Hes the first MC in hip hop who introduced that Mob mafia influence in hip hop. IMO every NYC rapper has copied kool G raps content in some way, shape, or form. Hip Hop is probably also the only genre of music where the younger fans dont acknowledge and pay homage to those who paved the way for them, and gave them a platform to do their thing. BTW i think drake is an actor playing a rapper, real talk.

***** your right but the difference in the two are the time and the dues, Big had a marketing genius on his side that circled the drama at that time around all those albums and also the right producers at hand... We give it to Nas cuz through his journey of different eras of Hip Hop he fought to maintain his status... We would want to believe Big would have taken the game to new heights but we will never know.. Same with big L, brother was nice but career was ended right as he was taking off.. I give it to Big he had major skills but it's just in that one time frame... In Hip Hop is about longevity that keeps you at the top and your skills help get you there.... Perfect example is LL
@jaidajones8788
9 жыл бұрын
***** your right LL isn't in today's top 5 but like kiss said it tends to change as time goes on... Pac to me personally was never in my top anything but I do give him respect for trying to add culture back to the game and black people... Never really liked him since digital underground but that's just me, I also feel the drama was created to help his career which worked, just that the drama went too far... Nas was crowned that title at illmatic because most don't know he had been crushing the streets and radio long before that as a youngster, why do you think the idea for an all star producer line up was given to him... But different times calls for different top 5,goat, what ever... But honestly, there should be a tighter judgement on who gets crowned what... Like Jada said "the crown has to be passed down, you can't earn it "

Just because you're a kid doesn't mean you can't listen to old music, there's something called the Internet to search for it! I'm 15 and all I listen to is 80s and 90s and its because I discovered it all through the Internet!

Responding 5 years later 😆 but I'm 29 and was introduced to rap through CD's and TV and discovered classic rock through GTA vice city.. they both remain my favorite genres and the internet keeps me discovering new and old music to this day.

This will forever be my favorite debate for us hip hop heads. Its infinite in length on why one should be over the other. In the end it's all love and they're all fucking worthy. New or old, don't matter. Real recognize real.

JadaKiss comes with the fire. This dude has always brought the flamethrower to his bars. I compliment every MC that has every had Jada spit bars on their song. Always a risk that he will steal the song.

Jada is a very fine example for preserving your own style while still being part of the actual progress in hip hop. gotta respect that. and of course he speaks truth with every sentence. all the heads who love this music for 20,30 years know what he's talking about. all good with the new shit though, keep it moving and stop hating those young rappers for their looks, but you still should know where it's all coming from if you wanna talk the talk.

+sahib singh I don't know of course it's your opinion but not only do I see this list everywhere to me it's overrated. Capital steez was pretty good but I never got into Joey expect for like 4 songs. Same with cole. I only like kedrick from section 80 and only like maytrs from mick jenkings. For me the new rappers to check out are ninoman, oddisee, and dillon cooper are the ones I think of right now
