Jaime Muñoz deftly reveals the “myth of modernity.” His multimedia paintings are digitally designed, then constructed by hand on bespoke wood panels using paper, glitter, texture paste and acrylic paint. The compositions mix decorative motifs with grid-like structures which represent mathematics and construction - informed by time spent working as a manual labourer. This time made the artist particularly aware of class and racial inequality - seeing a predominantly immigrant workforce deeply undervalued and underpaid.
Self Portrait, Muñoz' first collaboration with Avant Arte, is a layered composition of distinct materials, informed by construction and architectural plans, reflects Muñoz's determination to approach art in a sculptural way. Based on an original painting, Muñoz has added additional depth through velvet flocking and glitter details, applied by hand.

Avant Arte believes in a new age where art is becoming more and more unrestrained, a time where the traditional rules and boundaries of the definition of art have been blurring. Art has been becoming a more ‘social’ and fluid experience, opposed to a conceptual object that is assigned value by institutions and influencers.
