@I_WANT_MY_SLAW

It's very disrespectful. This is an unfortunate reality that black actors have to deal with when they achieve success in thier craft. It's a microagression that people use to undermine black actors, and not give them the respect they deserve. They aren't even trying to be racist. Well most people are, but Rosie isn't. As I know for a fact that Rosie doesn't have a racist bone in her body. She doesn't even realize she's doing it, and she means no harm. But by only calling him by his sitcom character, and not respectfully referring to him by his real name, it undermines him as a black actor, and the black excellence he is. She's not doing it on purpose. It's just been embedded in the culture that black actors don't deserve the same level of respect that white actors get, and she's doing it subconsciously. Will Smith was able to avoid this, because he played Will Smith on the Fresh Prince. Same with Kenan and Kel. But unfortunately the same isn't true for Jaleel White. Who is true black excellence.
@HisOnly17

I see exactly what you mean and you are correct. However, when referring to a person playing a character in a professional setting (television show in this case) the polite and professional thing to do would be to refer to him as his real name.

A visionary at an early age this one. Still a big Sonic the Hedgehog supporter to this day; I have both the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog tv series on dvd. He mentions in an interview on the dvd set that he didn't want Sonic to sound "black, white, or 'surfer', just hero". To grasp that at such an early age, and want to make that conscious decision for a world wide fan base is a huge contributing factor as to why I still enjoy the character, the franchise, and would like to thank him personally some day.

You couldn't tell me Jaleel White wasn't my boyfriend back in the 1990s to the point my dad met him at a 100 Black Men Conference here in Charlotte back in 1994 when I was 8 and he told him what a fan I was of his and this was after he started becoming Stefan, so he told my dad he'd be playing in a charity tennis match the next day and to bring me by to meet him. I was so nervous that next morning cuz I had such a crush on him knowing how cool he was as Stefan and my dad told me he acts like Stefan in real life and not Urkel. Omg!! My mom made us breakfast and my older brother and my cousin who is the same age as Jaleel White were trying to hurry me up to finish eating so we could go meet him. I couldn't even eat my food that morning and I remember eating sausage and trying to chew it, but my stomach had butterflies and was in knots thinking about going to meet him. I took forever on purpose to eat my food to the point my dad said "we're not going". I was relieved (I was such a loser) and upset at the same time that I wasn't gonna be able to meet him. My big cousin was mad at me she liked him too. I've always regretted not going to meet him. I was painfully shy back then.
