In the midst of all the misery and darkness, there’s the innocuous thru-line of the doctor always having a different eccentric way of telling his patients to sit down. Morris’s verbal creativity is an inspiration

Chris Morris is a very clever and funny man but he also has a team of writers, none of whom ever seem to get any credit for any Morris project.
@headsinthesand5372
7 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure he wrote Blue Jam (the radio show that all of the Jam sketches are taken from) by himself. And I know from reading Disgusting Bliss that he created and performed all of his bits in On the Hour separately to the rest of the team. It's pretty clear once you read about Morris that he's a unique talent. It doesn't seem fair for you to make him seem like he's been taking other people's credit when he is really just an incredibly imaginative comedy writer.
@Philliben1991
7 жыл бұрын
He didn't write Blue Jam himself. For instance all the monologues were written by Robert Katz. Also people like Linehan/Matthews, Peter Baynham, David Quantick wrote sketches.
@headsinthesand5372
7 жыл бұрын
Yes, they contributed sketches and Katz wrote the monologues with Morris but you make it sound like he's not the author of this show, which he clearly is. Let's not carry on with this. I just thought it was a bit unnecessary and cynical to say he has a team of writers who get no credit. I'm sure we can agree that Morris deserves the respect he gets.

Interestingly there are words where it's the other way around, like dance. We Brits say /dɑːns/ and Americans say /dæns/ Also I've just recently discovered this series, and I'd never before heard the word twat or twit referred to female genitalia. Is there a certain dialect of English where this is common?
@DissociatedWomenIncorporated
7 жыл бұрын
***** "Twat" does mean vagina, it's always meant vagina as far as I'm aware, in all British English dialects. "Twit" doesn't, it just means a foolish person. And don't you mean that Americans say /dæns/ and punctuate it by firing a hail of bullets at your feet? :D
@Pining_for_the_fjords

pixel girl I'm sure they call it a twit in the 'spot remover' scene (the couple who have no idea what pregnancy is), but maybe it's just the accent.
@DissociatedWomenIncorporated

***** That is an unusual pronunciation I grant you, but I think it's just "twat" being pronounced in a thick west country accent.
