Cool! It was a lot of fun. Though when we went it rained on the top of the mountain after we did the bobsled so we didn't get to do the zipline, which would have been fun. We waited a while hoping that the rain would subside, but ended up having to leave. We got back to the ship late and almost missed it.

Yeah, they redesigned the lens port to make it flat. The old one had a bubble sort of port that sent things a little out of focus when underwater... another reason I waited to get the Hero3. I guess enough divers complained that they re-engineered the thing. Have you tried the smartphone app? You can get a video preview streamed straight from the camera over wireless.

Do they offer helmets to wear? I’m all for speed but would want my head protected in case it jumped track.
@epontius
6 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. You are strapped into the sled and the sled is sort of attached to the track just like a roller coaster. There is netting in places like the curves as well. The zip line had helmets. A storm rolled in and we ended up not having time to do the zip line. We tried to wait it out but ended up having to leave. We almost missed the boat.

when we were riding back down the lift a guy asked us to buy weed under the lift
@epontius
10 жыл бұрын
I didn't experience that this time. The last time I visited Jamaica we were at an arts and crafts market in Ocho Rios and some guy came up behind us whispering and asking us if we wanted to buy. They probably target tourists. It's probably a scam.

When I visited, the busboy in front of the airport offered me a handful of weed, and then the busboy at the hotel offered me another handful. People were walking up and down the beach with ounces of it in their pockets. Couldn't believe it
@kayleejasmynn

That happened to us too. A vendor had a picture of weed leave and brownies on a sign, and asked us if we wanted a GANJA BROWNIES. As childish as we are we burst out laughing! So now when anyone in my family says "hey, hey- ganja brownies!". We burst out laughing. My four year old cousin even told us he wanted one. We offically died. #jamaicareallydoesthingstoyou #IloveJamaica #lol #ProudJamaicanHere

@epontius
2 жыл бұрын
Yes. We were originally scheduled to have done the zip line, but it started raining and was lighting so we had to wait it out. By the time that ended it was too late to do the zip line and we had to take the lift back down and hurry back to the tour van. We came very close to missing the boat. The tour operation had to call the boat and tell them not to leave. Everyone on the ship was lined up on the railings and cheering and clapping when we came running down the pier.

Yeah, I have one of the earlier GoPro HD cameras and then just before this vacation trip bought the new GoPro Hero3. I got the "black edition" that shoots 4k and 2.7k. Though it only shoots 4k at 15fps or something. I shot stingrays in Grand Cayman at 2.7k. Need to edit that footage together next...

My boyfriends a big fella and 6’2 279 pounds I think we would have to ride separately correct?
@epontius
Жыл бұрын
I would think so. I believe they have a weight limit for safety purposes because of the forces the ride has as you take turns and such at speed. They don't want anyone flying off the tracks I guess.

@epontius

+Queen gingin yes. It has a brake that you can pull to control your speed. I used mine a lot "cause I'm a chicken. My girlfriend didn't use it at all when she went because she is a speed freak. If you are with someone they can also hook your sleds together. We didn't because my girlfriend said I was going to be too slow. She didn't want me slowing her down.

+gotrocs4751 I don't know for sure. I got that off of the Rain Forest Adventures website. Has to be more than 70 feet. Funny thing was that we got stuck on one spot that had to be at a peak for probably 20 or 30 minutes...Not just once but twice. I cut it out of the video obviously. Sure looked like a long way down. Probably crosses a valley or something to make that claim.

How much for the price of one person
@epontius
8 жыл бұрын
+Candice Skeine I don't remember what it was for us specifically. The trip we took was part of a cruise ship excursion that we picked before taking our trip. According to the Mystic Mountain Rain forest Adverture website it looks as though the price for the bobsled tour is around $69 USD. But like I said, our trip was part of an excursion package offered by the cruise line, so the price and activities included might have been different. Ours included the canopy ride, a little lunch, the bobsled run and a zip line tour...we didn't get do the zip line since a storm rolled in and we couldn't wait or we would have missed the ship out. If I remember correctly the cruise line offered a couple of different packages that were different combinations of activities for similar pricing per package.

only one person can ride the bob sled at a time?
@epontius
7 жыл бұрын
+Akira Shipp there is only enough room in the bob sled for one person. If you want to go down with another person they latch two bob sleds together so they are connected and you go down together. They wait until you are making the trip back up to send the next sled(s) down. I think it is too dangerous otherwise since people go down at different speeds or if there is a problem and a sled is stalled on the tracks. They don't want to risk a collision. I went with my girlfriend. She didn't want to be tethered to me because she is a speed demon. When I went down I used the brakes in places. She didn't touch the brake at all.

@epontius

VizionWorksEditing it's actually not that bad. The sleds actually felt pretty secure. The bigger curves had netting around them I would assume in an effort to keep you from flying off into the jungle if the thing did manage to become disconnected from the rails. It's basically just a roller coaster.
