It's basically it's own language. Almost none of the words are English. Patois is such a combination of Creole, English and everything else that it's beyond a dialect.

@@stratfordbaby8572 I mean have you ever heard a Highland Scot speak English or even a thick Irish accent effect English, they both slur and mix words so heavily that people actively have to translate, these same things happen in large areas with such diverse accents such as Russians and the Chinese, even Japanese and Spanish have severe offshoots. Mexico speaks a type of Spanish that is like 20% different from what Spain speaks. This is honestly why I love linguistics though.

Despite being personally obsessed with proper English (I just love it). I actually really like Jamaican Patois, and also Pidgin. It's so fascinating to listen to. I guess it's interesting because you're hearing the "evolution" of a language. Every language has connections if you go back far enough, but it's often hard to hear the similarities because they're so distant and refined as their own languages at this point. But with Pidgin and Jamaican Patois, you can hear them mid-evolution as they're transitioning into their own unique language.
