What an eloquent person he was, and Lost Horizons in book and movie form in particular, is truly remarkable to say the least. Thank you James Hilton (and Frank Capra) for such a classic.

Reencarnation. He's already been there , in another life. That's why he had such a vivid memory. Writers are usually mediuns

"I should like to" too. When I read the novel and whenever I view the 1937 film I cannot help imagining being Robert Conway and finding my Sondra in Shangri-La. A truly great story has that magical power.

We need our Shangri-La more than ever these days. So much unnecessary upheaval. My heart longs for the peace he describes.

Thank you. A lesson for us when Chang says that Shangra-La's religion is Moderation in everything. :-) "If carried to excess, civilization will prove as prolific a source of evil as it had been of goodness..." ~ Baha'u'llah, Baha'i Faith

Shangri-La isn't as wonderful as it sounds, at least that's how I felt. Infinite joy isn't the answer to life, and infinite peacefulness, awareness and insight isn't the answer either. Moderation, even moderate moderation isn't the answer either. Nothing is perfect, a place that's seemingly perfect(Shangri-La) becomes TOO perfect, and then becomes hell.

@@TheLunkan22 In Tolkien's 'Silmarillion' this is what happens to the Eldar living with the Valar in the Undying Lands. They become restless and bored with their protected, 'perfect' existence and although in pursuit of evil, they return to Middle Earth only to find they cannot defeat evil and most are killed.

Shambala in Hinduism and Shangri-la in Buddhism is same. Babaji is the guardian of Shangri-la/Babaji.
