@nadyayap2714

Actually they weren’t. Even from the mythical point of view the Romans claimed descent from them- culturally and ethnically different- they even named their gods differently. Virgil’s Aeneid- told from Aeneas’ perspective- gave the gods Roman names while Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey gave them Greek names. On a more realistic archaeological view, the Trojans were much closer and more similar to their neighbors and sister civilization the Hittite Empire, than the Achaean Greeks. The myths were written by Greco-Roman authors trying to fit them into their view of how the world worked since they looked down on other cultures as barbaric and didn’t know the Hittite/Trojan pantheon, so they gave them Greek gods just like they claimed the Egyptians worshipped gods with animal heads only because some Greek gods fled there and went into disguise- which wasn’t true because the Egyptian civilization was older.
