Julian certainly got some of his father's voice, unlike Sean. It was not meant to be a criticism; merely an observation. Jesus these comments are mean. The guy is fine. He obviously doesn't do well in interviews and he might be a bit of a shy and reserved person, which is fine. Don't go diagnosing him with Asperger's syndrome or calling him boring just because he isn't as lively as his dad. He's a good singer, and his music is fine.

It is indeed warranted. His music is worse than that of many street buskers, and he has no shred of charisma when speaking, either. Didn't he go to the best schools? Stumped by the word 'prerequisite'? I don't think criticism here is 'mean'; it's totally understandable, given his parents' stratospheric fame and his choice to become a public figure himself. Just hope he's not as vile a personality as Stella (though I do like Mary's character and admire her talents.) Any word on 'Bea' lately? Just wondering.

Brandon Haygood Of course I have, many times, as has everyone. He didn't even seem remotely familiar with the word, though, on a nationally televised programme. 8 жыл бұрын
Brandon Haygood Honestly, I have nothing against him. I'm not here to bash the guy, whom I will never know. I guess I was just a bit thrown by his awkwardness, which wouldn't even be a point of discussion had he not decided upon a public presence/ this interview & performance. He seems ill-suited to it all. Few are cut out for fame, and plenty of celeb kids choose and lead peaceful private lives;he seems to be a prime candidate for just that. Perhaps he feels the need to compete with his sisters, live up to his father's expectations, whatever...pure speculation on my part. But if any of that even has a kernel of truth to it, I feel bad for the guy more than anything else. I'm the mother of sons - and no McCartney - but the last thing I'd ever want is for them to feel that they needed to 'prove their worth' by being something they're not. Fin.

Usually people have to claw their way into the spotlight or onto shows like BBC Breakfast. But since he's the son of a Beatle, he's able to bypass a lot of the rough patches on the way to fame. Those tough gigs night after night are what make people learn & grow. (Or give up). He's not really done that. He hasn't had to work for a living. He hasn't learned to work an audience.... He should have changed his name and tried to make it on his own. -- (FWIW: NONE of the Beatles kids have had much success with music. Usually the smart thing for kids of famous parents is to to something completely different. It avoids comparison).

Paul McCartney honed his stage and personality skills before he was even a Beatle. As John Lennon stopped gaining favor with the press, Paul became spoke person for the Beatles by default. He was Cute polite and entertaining to watch. Not all Good musicians or songwriters are showman, nor should they be. James is starting out in his late 20,s. His Dad was accomplished and moved the world at that age. James has been playing since he was 5.Mccartney started at 14. You can’t compare them. I love The material James puts out. It’s excellent. It is possible that Paul had used so much personality and energy in his life there was very little to pass on. I think people unfairly have high expectations of his son just because of the incredible achievements that Paul has accomplished. I think James has incredible guts to go out there and perform with people having these expectations, and James does have a great voice, but he has a difficult path because of his fathers popularity and talent., so cudos ..big time for James to choose this musical life, as he could of been anything he wanted.

In fact, Julian and Dhani are really the only two sons that are dead on their fathers sound and talent. I think it’s fair to say James struggles with communication. His manner is defensive and his mode of coping with a situation like this is very similar to pupils I’ve taught on the spectrum. I would not dream of diagnosing him here of course. I wonder about his micro aggression too? Why chose to follow in Dad’s footsteps as a career? He’s turned his privilege a pain. It could’ve been a way to forge your own path. It was easily avoided. James could had music as a hobby but been the best ruddy electrician in the cosmos. There’s unresolved Daddy issues. But really he is an adult and there comes a time in a man’s (and a woman’s life) to stop blaming your parents for your problems. ❤

I think its all too much for James, the media whirl wind, solo tours across a continent. Plus overcoming some hardcore addictions, its too much pressure. He's seriously talented, has an amazing collection of songs, a true artist in every sense. Hope he'll continue music and art, and just be kinder to himself.

He lacks stage presence, what I mean by that is simply"it"If he audtitioned for some show he'd probably get a no"due to that. He'd most likely drown"in the pool of talented artists I'm afraid...His dad is far from perfect, but at least he's got stage presence & a jovial personality...James might be om the spectrum tho'They tend to come off as rude or cocky at times...Again,can't be easy to be the son of "Beatle" Paul(& the only one too)He might suffer from low self image,or sosial anxiety, hard to tell tho'

It's gotta be tough in many ways to be in James's position. He will get exposure -guaranteed; which in itself, is a blessing reserved for a select few musicians/singers/songwriters in this world. Only at the same time he will be judged by almost all in this world by his dad's abilities. Of course, his dad happens to be the most successful recording artist (and one of the most loved ever by fans) in the history of music. James's song here is from the heart and not an attempt at a commercial jingle type of a song. I give him a lot of credit. Sounds good. Keep playing YOUR music -this music that seems to talk right at you. You can't go wrong. Good luck to you, James. My only advice here is (yeah I know, as if he will read it!), when you sit down in an interview think about what you really love about making your music. What makes happy, excited, ...like when the lyrics come together and the music you make just really puts you in a good mood and you feel alive and great because of it. When the music you wrote and then perform (play, sing, etc.) is making you feel good, it shows -and it spreads around the room or studio or concert hall or arena -wherever it is you are playing. Sit down at that interview knowing you performed your music here on this day -that made you happy and excited. The good feelings always show -and they will spread. It is good music, James it is from your heart. You've got a great voice. Take your songs into the studio and onto the stage, James, and let your love for them be a part of that music -to all who are listening (as well as when they are watching you). I've loved your father's music ever since I was a little kid nearly 50 years ago. My kids, my baby could feel the same way about your music. How did you feel when you wrote and finished "Strong as you". It must have felt great -and other songs you write, as well. Truthfully, it almost always does when any musician begins playing the completed piece of music he/she just wrote. Let your love and enthusiasm for your songs shine through. Just keep writing and playing music that makes you feel great, and don't ever hold back -rather just let it show, everybody watching and listening will then feel the same. You will soon be onstage all around the world and so I can say ...Hey, James McCartney is bringing his show right here to my area, Well then, ...if there's a (rock) show, of course I'm gonna be there... They got rock and roll at the Hollywood bowl, Long hair at the Madison Square ...Go for it, James!

I love you and your music, James McCartney. Your voice is every bit as good as John Lennon's, George Harrison's, and yes, even your dad's when singing solo. Most of the Beatle's success was through harmonizing. Playing guitar AND singing simultaneously, solo, is a magical feat, very difficult. I love your courage and your music. Keep it up. We're listening. We're listening intently.

James looks so much like Paul. Maybe he feels a little bit shy here. But it speaks about him only good - humble, intelligent, and talented - yes. And not a spoiled brat that many celebrities'children sometimes become.. And he doesn't have to be like Paul because he is different person who can only decide what to do with his life.
