Released from our Members-Only 2021 season:
In 1733, General James Oglethorpe established an experimental colony in the "New World" unlike any other. Inspired by the death of his friend Robert Castell in a debtor's prison, Oglethorpe sought to create a colony for England's "worthy poor" to create peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships with Native American tribes. In this program, historian Glen Kyle will explore the challenges, successes, and remarkable stories of the Georgia colony and its people.
