The original court papers, I believe were "lost" or have gone "missing. Enough said!!!!

there seems to be little discussion of the role played by the shadowy Capt Taylor and of the shooting of a German Missionary which certainly made the politics of the trial much more complicated.

Bulala Taylor was a murderer who got away with it but this does not make Morant and co innocent

@@LeonAlberts-m9h I dug further into the case and as you write, and one book definitely paints Taylor as a ruthless manipulator who did very well for himself after the war. The movie doesn't tell us enough about Taylor and his significance but he was smart enough and had good lawyers to get acquitted when charged -- I see he also served and was wounded in WW I

I first saw this movie in my early 20s shortly after leaving the British army. The movie and the story of breaker Morant stayed with me over the years. The war against the boer people was without doubt a War Crime a Genocide on a whole people. A crime to this day the British government has still not apologized for. The trail of Captain Morant was an outrageous cover up to protect senior officels in the British establishment . Morant and handcock were Sacrificial lambs to the slaughter used as a political tool . Never trust politicians. Let's remember all the victims the men women and young children who starved to death in British government concentration camps in South Africa and also Morant and Handcock

I often visit a political discussion website that's also regularly visited by a former member of the Australian Navy. Long story short...I,a Yank who loves Breaker Morant, have been inclined to see Morant and Hancock as having been unfairly tried and convicted. However,my Aussie friend insists that their sentence was just.

Read Peter FitzSimons book. I believe this to be the real story, as Peter had no "axe to grind" so as to speak.

Was the 35000 woman and children who died in the concentration camps not enough. Kitchener had a watery grave
