Here's the thing, when is the body of Christ accountable for part of these tragedies? Why do we promote pastors to a celebrity status? Are we as the church not wrong in this. The truth is, Steve Lawson was a pastor of a local congregation and should have remained ministering to the specific congregation Christ placed him to serve. Instead, in pursuit of fame and fortune, pastors travel all over the world while neglecting the local body they were called to serve. No one in California needs a pastor from Texas, Alabama, etc flying to their church and preach a message. The need is to raise up qualified individuals within that particular zip code. Furthermore, is that not the one of an evangelist? Do they exist anymore or have they been replaced by pastors who are unwilling to maintain their actual flock? How is any of this a good stewardship of money gifted through grace giving? Finally, if pastors today were bivocational like Christ and all the apostles, they would not have time to have an affair with a female the age of their grandchildren.

Anyone calling themselves "Pastor" is exposing their own phoniness and hunger for authority, not a true calling to serve. Jesus Himself warned against chasing after titles like "Rabbi" or "Father," yet some ignore His clear instruction to reject such labels in favor of humble servanthood (Matthew 23:8-10). These so-called "pastors" use a title to elevate themselves above others, seeking recognition and control instead of leading by example in Christ-like humility. If their leadership depended on the fruits of the Spirit and genuine service to the body of Christ, they wouldn't need a title to prove it. The question is not whether he was engaged in something carnal for a time, but whether, looking and the breadth of his life, if it would be described as carnal. In other words, is this characteristic of his walk with Christ, or have we watched someone stumble in the faith? Carnality is opposite to following Christ, so for someone to say they are Christian and yet they live carnally, and they have been this way always, never growing out of that carnality, or having always been in it, is to lie.

Ironically, Dr. Steven J. Lawson, a married 73 year old Calvinist preacher, and founder of One Passion ministries, also had an additional Secret Passion : he was secretly having an inappropriate relationship with a 20 something year old woman, for the last 5 years, until her father finally confronted him, and ultimately threatened to expose him unless he exposed himself, every detail of which, according to his nefarious philosophy, was already meticulously decreed before time ever began, thus giving a whole new philosophical twist to the infamous old phrase "bad grandpa".

My wife and I were talking after church today. Part of the problem in evangelicalism is that pastors think they are "special." From the moment they say God "called them to the ministry" they are treated differently. They are "a cut above" and everyone else is a treated as a "second-class Christian." I once told a pastor that my calling was to be a college professor. He said, no that's your job, its not a calling. This even comes through in parts of Mohler's address where he talks about the "little children" as if pastors and seminary students are way better. Another part of the problem is family control of churches and the good-old-boy network. I've seen sons of pastors who could not preach their way out of a paper bag get jobs because of who their father was. I've also seen numerous Elders who can't teach at all, but their granddad founded the church... and, if you say anything about it, then you have an attitude problem. For as long as this went on, there we likely a lot of people who knew, but looked the other way because Lawson was their friend. That needs to stop. How many times are we going to go through this before we change how we do things? I'm sixty years old, a believer for 40+ years, a gifted teacher, a hard worker, a wise steward of money, and I've been faithful to my wife since before we even met. But, I'm somehow not qualified.

The enemy prowls around seeking whom to devour and if anything, this makes me look more to myself and see that I am not entertaining any “small” sins and thinking nothing like this could ever happen to me. This is why we must be the more devoted to prayer and reading God’s Word as the day draws closer.Human beings have failed us and will continue to fail us, but I humbly put my trust in the Lord who will never fail me. Once saved always saved is a doctrine of demons and has collected another soul. We are to strive everyday to walk as Yahusha walked by the Turah and deny ourselves and carry our stake to be His disciples. Eternal security is an abomination and will keep collecting souls for Satan. We are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb for remissions of sins and once a new creature with the Ruach HaQadash we have the supernatural power to overcome our flesh and work (yes, WORK) to walk in Yahusha, having Him increasing in us while we decrease in the flesh. It only ends when we perish, until then it’s spiritual warfare. Demons and spells do enter believers if they do not walk the Way(Turah) the same way that even being saved we carry the curse of Adam and perish, we MUST be humble and pray and fast and walk as Yahusha walked with MUCH FEAR AND TREMBLING. This Xtianity preaches with a hippie JC will keep leading souls to the pit, it’s another daughter of the harlot Babylon and if people don’t come out of it they will drink from the cup of wrath of Yahuah Almighty.

My goodness take care of your own family then do outreach. Seems like these ministries have it backwards- go everywhere and work until you are exhausted doing the gospel . Good wants minister to preach the word and take leadership roles but not at the expense of their wife! Their children! They have misplaced priorities. Gods kingdoms will be advanced whether you labor for 40 hours or 120 hours a week. I have 4 children myself so I understand the responsibility. I see ministers all over the world working until they are physically, emotionally, spiritually whipped at the expense of their family being neglected. Why? God never ever expects anyone of his children to live like that . Serve Jesus by serving your own family then utilize your resources and skill from that to ministry for the gospel.

A 73-year-old reformed Pastor is caught in an inappropriate relationship with a girl 50 years younger than him. His congregation, known for nodding through every sermon, is shocked but silent. One of them finally pipes up, "Well, if the pastor did it, who are we to judge? He always says we’re totally depraved anyway!" Another one adds, "Yeah, guess he's just giving us a real-life example of the doctrine!" They all nod in agreement, not realizing the irony of their blind loyalty.

This sure shows the true colors of Calvinists and reform types. All the sudden there's Grace for people that fall huh? I'm sure Robert Morris is relieved. For something he did 35 years ago. That he repented of and went through church discipline. Set up accountability barriers. Lived a holy life from then on out. And was promoted and trusted by God. Glad you guys can biblically find Grace now.🙄

Let me tell you as a testimony. Over 20 years ago, I looked at man and put a lot of faith in man and not God. Man failed me and it almost destroyed me. I cannot remember the Psalms verse, but it warns of putting more faith in man than in God. I'm a believer in that every Christian needs to spend sometime alone, away from everyone, just him, his bible, and God.

They're parading a false sense of authority, and it's an insult to the true worship of God in spirit and truth.

1. Dr. Steve Lawson from the Ligonier Ministries' 2009 National Conference, The Holiness of God containing his address, "The Legacy of John Calvin" given on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of John Calvin's birth: "Rightly has one contemporary author identified John Calvin as the man of the millennium, meaning he is the single greatest influence upon modern history over the last thousand years. I would agree with that, in fact, I would push it out further and say that Calvin is the man of the last two millennia, that you would have to go all the way back to the days of the biblical writers, to Paul and to John, in order to see one who towered above history and has left such a dominant influence. It is almost impossible to overstate the importance and the legacy of John Calvin. William Cunningham, the Scottish divine, said 'Calvin was by far the greatest of the Reformers. Calvin is the man who, next to St. Paul, has done most to mankind.' And no less than Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the prince of preachers, said 'Among all those who have been born of women,' and that pretty much covers the field, 'among all those who have born of women, there has not been risen a greater than John Calvin. No age before him ever produced his equal and no age afterwards has seen his rival.' As a result, S.M. Houghton has written 'It has been said that to omit John Calvin from the history of Western civilization is to read history with one eye closed.' These are among the estimates of Calvin's life and ministry and his place in history, and so the question before us now is 'What is his legacy? Calvin stood at the headwaters of the Reformation and we now stand downstream, and what has flowed downstream to us from the pulpit, the study and the pen of John Calvin?'" 0:58 - 3:21 of Steve Lawson: The Legacy of John Calvin [youtube com /watch?v=xx1g5WfM6Xw] 2. John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion, Book III, Chapter 23, No. 7: "I AGAIN ASK HOW IT IS THAT THE FALL OF ADAM INVOLVES SO MANY NATIONS WITH THEIR INFANT CHILDREN IN ETERNAL DEATH WITHOUT REMEDY UNLESS THAT IT SO SEEMED MEET TO GOD? Here the most loquacious tongues must be dumb. THE DECREE, I ADMIT, IS, DREADFUL; AND YET IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DENY THAT GOD FOREKNOW WHAT THE END OF MAN WAS TO BE BEFORE HE MADE HIM, BECAUSE HE HAD SO ARRANGED BY HIS DECREE. Should any one here inveigh against the prescience of God, he does it rashly and unadvisedly. For why, pray, should it be made a charge against the heavenly Judge, that he was not ignorant of what was to happen? Thus, if there is any just or plausible complaint, it must be directed against predestination. Nor ought it to seem absurd when I SAY, THAT GOD NOT ONLY FORESAW THE FALL OF THE FIRST MAN, AND IN HIM THE RUIN OF HIS POSTERITY, BUT ALSO AT HIS OWN PLEASURE ARRANGED IT." When pastors fall into sexual sin, it can serve as a wake-up call for the Church to re-evaluate its understanding of leadership and reliance on individuals rather than Christ. In the New Testament, there is no central figure, like a modern pastor, dominating the gathering or holding all spiritual authority. Such failures can remind believers that their faith should not rest on human leaders, who are fallible, but on Christ alone. These moments often prompt deeper reflection on biblical leadership, humility, accountability, and the importance of every believer's active participation in the body of Christ. It exposes the danger of placing too much trust in a single person and encourages a return to the early Church model where Christ is the true head of the Church.

From God's perspective he has sinned greatly. God holds the scales. Not man. And he has spoken: Marriage should be honoured by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself. You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!" declares the LORD.Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: "Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done."

It makes no difference whether it was a one time thing with someone his own age or something with someone much younger over a 5 year period. This is what happens to people who believe the lie that salvation is by faith alone. He proved he believes people should do as he says and not what he does. The Christ would have lumped Lawson in with the Pharisees and Sadducees that he condemned. He is no better than King Herod and the sexual sin that John the Baptist conedemned him of.

The question remains as to how much good was God actually producing through Lawson's mostly harmful teaching of God's Word. He laid a harmful, imo, hermeneutics, homiletics, and legalistic sanctification as foundational in many eager Bible students' thinking... which will still have negative influence into the future through their ministries, imo. 🙄 Perhaps God's delay in exposing his sinful practice was to help many question the truth of that foundation.

Comments like this so the kind of theological and even immediate contextual ignorance and immaturity that's almost unexplainable. If you don't understand the context meaning of the term "innocent" in white's talk here, to mean that there are persons who have not betrayed Lawson in ways he has, you need to go back to elementary school English language class. If you can't see that there's a difference between the broader theological definitions of innocence and guilt as far as original sin is concerned (which is not local to Calvinism alone) as opposed to the specific innocence or guilt of a particular act which someone may be guilty or innocent of, why are you even involved in this discussion?

@@bernhardbauer5301 he's being sarcastic. Trying to jab at Calvinism. But this doctrine isn't only part of calvinist theology. Every orthodox Christian believes that we are all born guilty. Psalm 51:5 The biblical position is in Adam, as part of his human descendants, because he sinned, the corruption he brought on himself, he brought in all that would be born from his seed.
