I'm pretty sure he chose to be independent. I remember he had a lot of exposure at the same time as Sam Smith. Back in the day when Sam made great music, i guess he is kinda getting back to his roots now. I love Jamie because he cares more about the music than actual fame and money.

I've heard this song once before at a party in 2012 and thought it was very catchy. After that I forgot about it completely. Now in 2021 it popped into my mind out of nowhere and went on a mission searching for it and I gotta say, this song aged very well like a good Scotch and have been listening to it for days in a row now. Echo Affliction " Lack of billboard 100 capacity maybe even ability. As well as he doesn't seem special tbh" I agree with the PR stuff, but I disagree with the above. Popularity and being in the billboard 100 is all about appealing to the masses. I think you know what is popular nowadays (poppy, hype, almost predictable even etc.) and that's different than what Jamie Woon delivers which is what I describe as more classy music.

The Echelon I wrote that when I was pretty drunk. I work in the industry, and what I meant to say was exactly what you stated above, the lack of mass appeal. Don't get me wrong Jamie is very talented. But these popularity contests are what make you reach the top resulting on being on the top charts, playlists and receiving consistent media coverage. Approximately 2 years ago I was searching for the next big EDM act someone to kill it in DJ Mag (one of the most rigged bullshit charts in the industry, but it still matters) a multifunctional act, now A&R is all about the Urban market and what the younger demographic is consuming. This industry requires signed acts and branded content to meet margins, we follow trends, if not predict them. Mind you he is signed to PMR a sister co. of UMG there roster includes Disclosure, Jessie Ware and SG Lewis, pretty big acts and some get more attention than others.

+Arianit Haxha High five from another one who feels strongly for this song! And who tends to stay up late. Sounds I know and whose atmosphere I found spontaneaously at least a *little* similar to Night Air: - Craig Armstrong's "Af if to Nothing" album - Portishead' "Dummy" album - parts of Gotye's "Making mirrors" album, p.e. "Don't worry, we'll be watching you" - parts of Eurythmics`"Sweet Dreams" and "Touch" albums, p.e. "This city never sleeps" - the song "Losing sleep" (he, I sense a pattern) by Vangelis - the song "One step too far" by Faithless - the song "Drinking and driving" by Jhene Aiko Many of them lack the gentle club beat Night Air has, though. Checking webpages like allmusic for Jamie and then search for his influences or similar music there might also give you some nice results.
