I've seen it twice and both times I sobbed, it's been stuck in my head since. I will also have anthem for a 17 year old girl on my spotify wrapped.

If you liked yeule’s version you should listen to the original by Broken Social Scene… it’s way better imho, but I’m also biased since it’s the version I grew up with.

For a movie which left me stunned and unsettled on initial viewing, it stuck with me a long time afterward. Not a lot of art these days can make that claim.

Disagree, they should have used the orginal songs instead of doing horrible covers. They had the perfect opportunity to share what was once underground music in the 90's to this new generation and instead choose to redo them so now all of these kids still have no idea who the original artists were nor did they even credit. The film gave off major "fauxstalgia" as if it was a kid growing up in the 2000s imagining what it would have been like to "grow up in the 90s". Also, sick of people saying "you just don't get it" just because someone doesn't like the film as if the movie was somehow super deep and complicated when it's really just giving off "r/im14andthisisdeep" vibes. It was something cool to look at. I'll give it that. Just seems like they invested more time on the overall aesthetic (cinematography/color grading/filters/wardrobe/costumes/etc) of the film rather than the plot and meaning.

@@in_the_pines "Also, sick of people saying "you just don't get it" just because someone doesn't like the film as if the movie was somehow super deep and complicated when it's really just giving off "r/im14andthisisdeep" vibes" Well, how else do you want people to tell you that you didn't get it? You don't have to like it but for you to claim there's little meaning and just aesthetic speaks to a near-incomprehensibly shallow artlessness. A demonstrably untrue claim.

@@CharlotteSWeb-oh7ou there is no "true" or "false" claim when it's art. It's just my opinion. You're perfectly free to think it's super deep and creative if you want just as I'm allowed to think it's very shallow and not that much to it. I was simply stating that just because someone doesn't enjoy it doesn't mean they can't grasp what's going on here. Sometimes it's just down to taste.

I really liked it although apparently I interpreted it the wrong way. I personally thought Owen was on the spectrum which was partially why the movie was the way it was. I also thought they were literally in the tv show just like maddy said. That would explain why Owen could break the fourth wall. It would also explain why he didn’t seem to age much over time along with them talking about how they were confused and why time felt off. Side note: I definitely felt like this was inspired by/at least similar to silent hill, Jacob’s ladder, and twin peaks.

Some people found this movie confusing, so here's a somewhat lengthy >>>SPOILER
@popermen694

There’s more. The pages that he finds at the power line scene tell the entire story of the movie as Season 6 Episode 1, Escape From The Nightmare Realm. Meaning that the movie itself is Season 6 Episode 1 of the Pink Opaque. It tells the entire story of the movie, if you pause it and read, up to the point of Tara figuring it out, escaping, and coming back to save her friend. It also says that Tara is the first to figure it out and escape. This implies that Isabel will eventually leave as well. Although she is last. Because of the nature of the pink opaque being the real world and the episode guides and tv shows are their psychic link to that real world, this implies that Isabel will in fact escape. And then Episode 2 will happen.

The episode guides even say that the show is “being bold” by going in a new direction with a very strange mystery and “new but familiar characters”. It is telling us that they really are stuck there.

I couldn't stop watching the movie. I didn't understand it. It simply made no sense to me and I guess that's because I'm not gay or coming out of the closet or confused about my gender. So I missed all that but you said there is something in it for everyone. And there was something in it for me. As a kid, I woke up around 4 am and the weirdest show or movie was on and my eyes were glued to the TV maybe around 1995. The show they watch reminds me of it and I wish I knew the name of the show because I never saw it again after that night.

@@dinandinandinan I meant because I'm not gay lol. So it makes sense why I was confused. No, I only have bits of memory of the show and I don't have enough memory to even try to google it. Because it was so weird kinda like the show they watch. It's a moment in my life I never forgot and I was super young like 10. But I will probably never find that movie or show. I just remember a clip where a song playing took a person back in time it was so weird. But it makes sense because music does take you back in time. Every time I hear an old song my mind goes back to the first time I heard it and where I was.

The concept was good, including the cast and cinematography, but the script execution was like written through bad AI prompt. Who in their right mind will want to hire their childhood bully to bury them alive and regret it?
@milascave2

He wasn't her childhood bully. Where did you get that? He was just some random stoner dude who hit on her at work. She hired him because he would do it cheaply and had no real relationship to her. As to "who in their right mind" would do that, well, clearly, nobody. Mattie was not in her right mind. I saw this movie being about the progression of her mental illness, among other things. Other people saw other things in it, which is ok.

@@eyeriiis Since always. But some movies more so than others. Hollywood is already making tons of movies for mass market international, the lowest common denominator films that will appeal just as much to.
