It's wild that it's as unknown as it is considering the quality of the package and people behind it. I think being a Japan Only RPG or RPG-adjacent game means you'll generally be ignored by the larger Enlish speaking world since theres an assumed language barrier involved, but it just goes to show how many interesting titles we could be sleeping on. Appreciate the kind words man, thanks for watching!

I just Google Translated my way through the game, the plot is very simplistic, as are the side quests. It's a pretty friendly game to go through. I only understand the damage calculations when I got near the end of the game. The damage numbers seen in the menu when buying moves is a multiplier rather than the damage amount. If the move says 110, it's your attack x 1.1 - enemy defense. I hear the max level is 127 but I stopped at 45. You gain a level every 9 floors in the waterfall dungeon, all the way to max.

There has to be a team that makes a English Patch for Brightis (54:45). This game is very worth it! 🤩 Only problem is the main character could have more variety or depth. He starts the way it ends, without changing armor, clothing or any aesthetics customization. This is the type of game where the main Skin of the game would be replaced by Link, Goblinslayer, 2B, etc. It would only increase the desire to play and replay it. 🤣

@@YTKeepsDeletingAllMyComments Well it's not just PS2 games let me tell you! For PS1: Tunnel B1 Tunnel B1 is an ancient first person shooter from 96. Feels incredibly janky and boring, honestly wouldn't recommend it For PS2: Burnout 3 Takedown I've only ever played the 360n version of Burnout Revenge before on Xbox One (and then Series X) Still prefer Revenge but this is great too when it all comes together. My only complaint is this game looks terrible on my TV, whole things looks like a blur filter Driver Parallel Lines Having fun so far with this one, love the prospect of adding more cars to my stash. However the New York traffic is so realistic I've caught myself thinking it would've been faster to walk a few times. Powerdrome Old futuristic racer from the guys who gave us Starfox 2. It's kinda boring when you get the hang of it. Medal of Honor Frontline Haven't played a Medal of Honor game before, looking forward to it. For Xbox: Colin McRae Rally 04 I usually don't like rally games but I'm gonna give it a shot. For Xbox 360: Sega Rally Revo Looking forward to this one Armored Core 4 Fell privileged to own it because I once saw a copy of the PS3 version at a convention going for $90 Chrome Hounds Dunno what that's gonna be like Ace Combat 6 Fires of Liberation Probably gonna play it on my Series X because my 360 is a bit finicky

Ah, so happy to see another Japan Only PS1 Games! Game #1: For some reason this was my favourite one, probably because of how fun it looks (even if the AI is simply stupid/stupidly simple). Colorful, quirky, fun. Game #2: Speaking of quirky fun, this one would also be some nice, rather arcade-like, frantic action. Gives me Cannon Spike vibes and that is a good thing. Game #3: As someone who loves fighting games, I probably could find some enjoyment out of it. Can't be worse than the DOS fighting game "Battling Butlers" anyways. Since it is set in a highschool and they are teenagers and thus underage, I'm not a fan of the boob jiggling though. (Just writing this makes me worried to be on some list) Game #4: Yeah, I had a feeling you would say a lot about this game, considering how many screenshots you posted on Twitter. 😅 But the game looks really fun and I love the enemies, especially the fat fishmen. Okay, since it is me who is commenting, you know what time it is, right? That's right! It is kitty spotting time! 0:18 Okay, not sure if that counts but I'll add it in anyways. 3:56 Luna and Honey (Honey kinda hiding) 53:54 Honey 1:33:10 Luna Hope I got them all! 1:29:18 For the little that its worth, "Sorcerous Stabber Orphen" is the anime name, so the Japan version is probably more akin to "Sorcerous Stabber Orphen - The Game" though the localized version of this game uses some soundalike voiceactors and not remotely good ones. Beyond that, its... probably worse than the Inuyasha game? Its just kinda a clunky rpg with pseudo-action elements, and pretty meh writing and terrible voice acting, its not 'so bad its good' its just very 'eh' unlike the perfectly medicore turn based inuyasha game with a fanfic plot.

You highlight something I really like about games from this era: the length of play segments. A lot of modern AAA games will demand you play for multiple hours in one sitting before you've felt like you've made enough progress to be satisfied. Now, these games are loaded with detailed graphics, fully voiced dialogue, elaborate cutscenes, and endless open worlds to explore -- they're technological marvels, without a doubt. But I can't tell you how many times I've gone back to an old PS1 or N64 game, played for a bit, put it down at a reasonable stopping point, and then been surprised to find that only about 40 minutes to an hour had passed. It's like the perfect amount of time. A game with a well-paced story or tight level progression can make it feel like quite a lot has happened in a short span of time, and that sort of trickery will always be more impressive to me than any advances in graphics hardware. In case it's not obvious, I played FF7 Rebirth recently. Boy did that game make me contemplate the importance of brevity.

I mean it isn't that silly to call Toshinden the first true 3D fighter, other than the fact that it's not actually the first (I believe Dark Edge is the first if you don't count belt 3d, topdown, or other stuff that wouldn't get called 3D today). Most people in the FGC don't call early VF or Tekken 3D fighting games specifically because they do not have sidesteps (other than the Mishima scoot in Tekken 2 iirc).

Like top 1% of KZitemrs care to look into actual information when talking about games, it must be. I mean, _it makes me sad_ to now know that the remnants of Quintet are now working on terrible budget anime schoolgirl action games with costume break features instead of cool RPGs, but *knowing* that now is cool!
