Now, in my opinion, your video is the BEST Japandi style explanation I have heard thus far and I listen to as many professionals on various social media as possible as I want to understand the cultural foundation of each style and how they are being beautifully merged into a simple, warm and inviting style for my home. I love this video. Thank You So Much!

I love your video 😍, but can you recommend me what material and color for the floor (is it forced to be wood or we can use something else?)
@jane_e_ldn
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! :) When it comes to interior design, please never feel forced to do anything!! In your own space, you can do anything you like! However, when discussing a specific style, there are certain elements that are fundamental. In Japandi the floor is most commonly wooden, but it doesn't have to be. To stay true to the philosophy and mindset behind Japandi, I believe the material you choose have to be natural and genuine, like wood, stone, ceramic tiles, concrete etc. I would never use anything plastic or any other manmade fake materials in a true Japandi home. A wooden floor will bring more warmth to your room than stone, tile or concrete, but you can easily compensate for this with some good quality rugs in wool, jute, sisal etc. The Japandi colour palette ranges from dark, musty earthen tones, through the medium beige tones, all the way up to the different tones of white. But definitely keep the colours warm. I hope this helps a little bit. Please let me know what you decide to do in the end. :)
Thank you for your great feedback! Make sure to subscribe to my channel for more interior design inspiration! :) Take care, xx

At minute 3:44 what would you say the wall colour is? I have natural color linen curtains, would these walls integrate well with the curtains? And also what would you choose as a complementary color. I am stuck on these and do not know what to choose, I jump from dusty blue, to brown grey, to olive green and mauve and I’m lost. But i do love the wall as my furniture are the exact same colour. Thank you and love watching your videos

Hi Madelaine, I'm not quite sure about the exact colour in this room, but to me it looks very similar to the colour "China Clay Deep" from The Little Green Paint Company. You can check it out here: www.littlegreene.com/paint/colour/show-all/china-clay-deep As this is a warm, earthy tone, I think it will match well with your natural linen curtains. As for a complementary colour, I would still stick to the warm, earthy colours. The colour experts in Little Green suggest matching this colour with Tuscan Red or French Gray. If you're into blues, you can check out "Baluster" from Little Green, as well. I wish you the best of luck with choosing your colours! Do let me know how your project turns out! xx

@@jane_e_ldn thank you so much for your response. Ive chosen paint from Graham & Brown called canvas and decided to choose natural coloured bedding with peeks of dusky pink, I also have linen cushions, charcoal cushions and charcoal rug, and charcoal and olive green knitted blankets at the bottom of my bed, and pampas grass. Maybe not the greatest match in a designer eye but it looks great, now I’ve got to add some earthy toned art and extra lighting. I’m really excited for my bedroom. All of my bedroom furniture are natural wood, light-toned

Thank you, @KuntiElstak! Warm whites and light neutrals are all suitable wall colours for the Japandi style. One of my favourites is Ferdinand 313 from Little Green Paint and Paper. You can find it in their new collection called "Stone", and this whole collection is almost like it was made exclusively for the Japandi style. Check it out, it's gorgeous!
