A few things everyone...I'm Japanese, from Japan, and yes I cringe when I hear it pronounced "wagoo," but no one is stating how she perfectly cooked the steak, and how you would have it prepared at a Japanese restaurant. My question is, are ANY of you complainers going to channels accosting folks mispronouncing "karate, karaoke and gyoza" as well? She is also not the first person to call it wagoo and won't be the last. By the way, it's pronounced more like wah-giu, not wa-gyu.

@dannyjingu
10 ай бұрын
@ClickHere4Naruto You are correct, it is pronounced "gyu," but for the majority of non-Japanese speakers, it is far easier to tell them "giu," because phonetically it ends up being pronounced like "gai-yoo" or "guy-ooh," (reference how the name Ryu was mispronounced through the 80's , 90's and a large part of the 2,000's.) Honestly, the one that actually bothers me is "katsu" being pronounced "cat-soo," which references the disgusting stereotypes of Asians and immigrants eating other people's pets (cats and dogs.)

As someone who has had A5 both in steakhouse and by ordering it online and cooking it myself. It is fantastic. Aussie wagyu is more akin to a very fatty steak. I’ve honestly heard that extremely high quality wagyu isn’t typically at its best at rare simply because the high amount of fat doesn’t fully render or cook throughout the cut, resulting in you chewing through multiple pockets of un-rendered fat. I’ve also heard that heavily marbled and rich wagyu beef is one of the few instances where medium-well or even well-done can still result in a good steak.

Had it for the first time last week in ibiza. It was A5. Around €150. They cooked it on a hot stone but they first coated the stone with 2 little cubes of fatty steak (assuming the unrendered fat strip from the original wagu cut). I think they did this to avoid the beef sticking to the stone. 20s each side it seemed like and then served it with an assortment of dips/salt. I love my steaks rare or medium rare. However, with Wagyu, I feel it's ultra forgiving and cooking it up to medium doesn't ruin the steak at all.

I just ate wagyu for the first time, medium rare as always, and it was the juiciest bite I've ever had from a steak, problem was because of my highblood it made my head spin. But what an experience

Probably not as it's actually cheap. A5 Wagyu itself (in Japan) isn't expensive unless it's the most desirable breeds (Tajima and maybe a few others idk) I went to a few restaurants and butchers across Japan

I can only eat a few bites of it. It's so rich. I like the idea of having bite sized pieces. Having it as sashimi or tartar on the other hand, is much easier to eat :D

i am eating it week straight and yes its worth the hype personaly i dont like strong beefy flavor so wagyu is the perfect option highly recommend but be careful a lot of restaurants sell cheaper aged meats as wagyu if its chewy or beefy its now wagyu it must be super tender and gentle tasting

As someone who has 4 A5 wagyu steaks in one day. Don't. You can do it but it becomes a bit much

I've had it and no. It's just special because people have been on this " omg japan is so amazing " kick. You can get just as much if not more flavor from a good black Angus steak.

Salt your steak beforehand and put it back in the refrigerator for some time and not just your crust will benefit from it but the whole steak, trust me people, just like you should to when marinating other stuff.

I think if you're getting actual high quality Kobe A5 wagyu it's extremely unnecessary. It barely needs any seasoning, it's almost like a different meal compared to your typical steaks

For 220 dollars in my country Bosnia: 10 persons roast a whole lamb on a pike, salad, bread, dessert, a bit of barbecue before lamb is done and so much alcohol to get literally wasted with full bellies... BTW, lamb roasted slowly over charcoals is way better then any other red meat, only young goat can compete...
