I remember my grandpa will pour some sprite and ketchup to tenderize and as part of flavoring the meat before putting to the barbecue, so i guess that make up the sweet taste. I would therefore think these can be sweetened with sugar, but there can be many other ways to sweeten these as well. I hope you have a wonderful experience touring the Philippines, many old churches (built from Spanish era) to visit there, and I think the oldest Chinatown is just in Manila. Wish you the very best, hope you can swing to New Zealand one day :)

How to eat chicken feet: Remove the skin to the upper part of the feet and the skin of the palm using your teeth and eat. For the fingers, just remove the whole finger and using your mouth try to remove the meat from the bone, take out the bone and eat the meat. You can also dip it to vinegar first before eating.
@philph3592

Grilled chicken feet is actually hard to eat. But the technique is you start with the fingers nibbling on the cartilages. Then you go to the foot pad. Then down to the larger bones.
@kennethcastillo9667
2 жыл бұрын
Kinda hard to explain how to eat chicken feet (also known as Adidas) but i'll try. When you eat it, you go for the toes first. You try to separate the toe meat using your mouth and teeth. It is hard to imagine but just imaging eating fish without deboning it. Just imagine yourself separating fish meat from the fish bones. You eat each toes one by one. Once you are done, you can eat already the feet pad. The one that looks like the palm. It is up to you to eat the remaining but it is either you scrape it using your teeth or using spoon.

Thank you for the fun intro to Filipino street food. I imagine you get much more variety of Filipino cuisines there as opposed to the US, even the US Filipino capitals of Daly City and South City. Not Filipino, but I get chicken feet whenever I have dim sum. Yeah, there's no meat, it's all in the sauce, and you just suck the skin off. But at dim sum, it's generally steamed, not charcoal-grilled. I can't imagine it working charcoal-grilled. Love your sense of humor by the way.

I think this can help you when eating chicken feet. The way I eat it is by pulling out the fingers and eating it at the front (it has more meat in there) then eating it at the "leg" part of it (Iwould recommend eating the adobo one, because for me, its easier to eat and its delicious). Btw, have you tried Dinaguan?

Another challenge you can do is the CHICKENSTEIN. That's assembling a whole chicken (fr head to feet, plus the innards). If you closely observe those doing chicken barbecues, you can find all the different parts. You can even add a TOKNENENG (orange egg). Only the feathers will be missing.
