OMG!! I created the original Lost Media wiki page for Kumiko Endo. I am SO glad the search for her lost single is getting attention. Even in Japan at the time, I think because Yukiko Okada's suicide happened so soon after Kumiko Endo's suicide (and allegedly, she was one of her best friends) and since Yukiko was already an established star and best selling recording artist, whereas Kumiko was a relatively unknown new model, not a lot of focus went to Kumiko especially in terms of preservation of her work. I am also of the opinion that there are final copies of her recorded work out there, we just have to hope whoever has possession of the tracks upload them online!

@@Iantheparty Wait. Hold up. You wrote the wiki article?? 😱 I've been trying to find out a way to contact you! This is so awesome!! But wow, I had no idea Yukko and Yasuko where friends. I'm actually looking into Yukiko's final concert for my next video since I think video of her final show likely exists. I love showa idol stuff , the music makes me so happy and I also hope that In the Distance is eventually released somehow.
@Iantheparty

@@SakuraStardust Pretty much all of the information I put on the lost wiki was from the forever-idol site in my sources, he had been a Yasuko fan and is responsible for preserving most of the information about her on the web. I would be thrilled if video of Yukiko's last concert was uncovered! About 10 years ago there was audio rips from her last concert floating around online. The quality was not very good and I think it came from a hidden tape recorder in some guy's jacket, but even still Yukko's vocals were even more amazing live.
@Iantheparty

@@SakuraStardust Also, if you have a good reason to believe video of the final show exists that's awesome! But even today in Japan most venues enforce the "no live recordings" rule very strictly and the video cameras in 1986 would have been hard to conceal. Unless a crew had been hired and had permission to film in the venue (which is very possible as laser disc recordings of concerts sold well at the time) I'm not sure if video recordings exist. But, I would love to be proven wrong!

Some lost japanese stuff that the voice synth community knows about but no one else: 1. MeAw, a virtual idol group voiced by the 2 idols from Neko Jump. There are 2 very rare albums with their songs, Meaw left and Meaw right. For years it was unclear if they just sang the songs or if they actually were recorded voicebanks but very recently someone contacted Jam, the voicer of Me, and she did confirm that Me and Aw were recorded voicebanks. Both obviously lost. 2. Ring Suzune. A Vocaloid who was announced to be released in December 2012 but never was. A demo version of her voice was given to people who participated in the Vocaloid Network event in March 2012. Very few people participated. The demo was limited to a month, and none of the people who had it released it to the public. Someone might still have her demo voicebank somewhere but after all these years, who knows. Her voicebank might be lost forever. There are also a ton of private voicebanks, like Akikoloid-chan, a Vocaloid owned by Lawson or Anri Rune, a virtual announcer for Fuji TV in 2012 who got a Vocaloid voicebank in 2013 with exactly one song and nothing after that. Also never forget the Cocorobo Vocaloid that sadly never released... she was so cute.

When I was living in Japan in 2007, I do remember Monster School. It aired in the mornings, I think around 8 or 8:30am Toyama City time. Anyway, The show was portrayed mostly by puppets. The teacher was really pretty, but when she got mad she would turn into an oni! All of the episodes evolved the puppets learning school-age things like colors, numbers, words and manners of the such. For a kids puppet show, It really done really well. There was another kids show that aired before it. But that on had singing and dancing. One of the dancers was named Itaru Mayo I think..... Edit post search: Ok, I made an oopsie! The shows intro portrays the school as being in a tall building where these monsters also live. The general focus was on communication skills. I now want to find more of this show.

Now, it isn't lost by any stretch of the imagination, but the deep desire I have to see Mamoru Nagano's 2012 anime film Gothicmade is made infuriatingly difficult by the fact that it has only ever been shown in Japanese cinemas capable of projecting in 4K. Nagano, mate, PLEASE. I appreciate the steadfast resolve to not compromise the visual fidelity of your movie by downscaling for a home release, but in the year 2020 I THINK we're about ready for it to be released in some capacity.

I was IN Japan while it was screening and had no idea it was there. (Save for Newtype etc doing cover features on it, but that's what it does almost all the time, and I can't read Japanese.) You needed a membership card with a certain Japanese cinema chain in order to access/book a seat. Then figuring out what elevator you take to Oioi department's top floor where the cinema was, was a headache. And I was on holiday, so the rest of that took precedent. I missed Gothicmade by mere... days? Language barrier? Cinema club membership? The exclusivity of being able to watch Gothicmade is insane.

That Monster School show was quite popular here in Brazil but it was only shown about 10 episodes (or maybe 13) for about 8 months then the show was canceled by TV Cultura, no one knows the true reason why it was canceled, but rumors said that the parents of the kids didn't like the concept of the teacher (Professora Okiku in Brazilian-Portuguese) being a demon. back in early 2019 I was in a hunt of the lost episodes but I've only found a PDF of TV Cultura telling the synopsis of the episodes 1, 2, 5 and 6, and I made a video about it (a very meme one), telling about the show, the character names + information, it is my most popular video by the way, and everyone that commented in my video said that they loved the show and thought that it was only a illusion by them, because it was only shown for a short period of time. anyways, really well done video, I learned a lot of stuff here

As can be seen from Yukiko Okada's work schedule from April 1984 to April 1986, she hardly had a day off. Moreover, she was a high school student, balancing work and school. Yukiko Okada was staying at the home of the president of her entertainment agency with several other celebrities, and she lived apart from her parents in Nagoya, so she had no one to talk to about work or school. At the time, neither the Internet nor cell phones were widely available, and there was only one landline phone in the boarding house addressed to the president, making the phone calls from Tokyo, where the boarding house was located, to Nagoya, where her parents lived, very expensive.

Just an interesting point on that "Final Fantasy 64" prototype, that isn't for the 64, but was actually designed as a tech demo for a potential of a Final Fantasy game running on PC. If you look closely, you can actually see a mouse cursor moving in the footage, which was used for selecting moves. It also goes by "Final Fantasy X" (not to be confused with FF10), and also wasn't made to represent a game potentially in development, but moreso as a way to represent what Final Fantasy could look like on newer computers at the time. I don't have sources anymore, I'm mostly recalling this information from stuff I read over a year ago when I was researching this cause it highly interested me.

What I've heard of Pink Crows was actually pretty good. Apparently there's an American band called "The Pink Crows" which isn't too bad either. It's not the cartoon animal one so just a bit of a warning.

Copycat suicides are a huge issue in Japan, and I think they feared that the release would cause more suicides (Yukiko Okada's suicide definately did) I think they made the right choice to delay it, but it should have been released at some point. Like, maybe a year later? I just think it sucks that this girl is known for her death and not much else

I know its somewhat unrelated to lost media but you can now get devices that allow you to back up the saves or even roms in a GB/GBC cartridge as long as you have a PC. Many also allow you to re-write that save data to the cartridge, so you can back the save up, replace the battery, and then rewrite the data back to the cartridge

Hey I used to watch monster school back on 2003 or 04 on TV Cultura, the name of this show here was A Escola dos Monstro. I just remember the opening scene and two episodes plots. Most of the monsters were named after the Japanese folklore monsters, the main character is a boy named Nobiru and he was adopted by a couple of Tengus, I think that the name of the female is Metengu and the male is Hatengu, on the later episodes they have a kid tengu that I can't remember the name. Other stuff that I can remember is that every time that Nobiru made something wrong his teacher use to get a demoniac face in order to scare him or the entire class. The fist plot that I remember was the episode where Metengu was very lazy and everybody started to think that she was sick and were in fact she was about to lay an egg
@felipeROCKZ
3 жыл бұрын
The second that I remember was an episode where Nobiru was addicted to a video game and stopped to make inportant things, Metengu and Hatengo started to give him advice when they notice that he was starting to grow huge dark circles around his eyes due to his lack of sleeping for playing video games.

25:30 According to its article on Lost Media Wiki, and also according to a page about it on the Lost Levels website: the Final Fantasy tech demo from the 1995 ACM SIGGRAPH conference actually ran on a Silicon Graphics Onyx high-end professional workstation, and used a mouse-gesture type of control scheme (i.e. the player would draw shapes with the mouse in order to issue commands to the characters). Note: some sources on the web indicate that the price-range for the SGI Onyx was in the *hundreds of thousands* of US dollars per computer when sold new. One of these sources I found also said that the earliest devkits for the Nintendo 64 ran on the Onyx platform, whereas later devkits instead ran on the SGI Indy low-end (i.e. cheaper) workstation platform together with an add-on board that contained the same kinds of chips as used in retail N64 consoles.

i'm watching the original first episode of pokemon as someone with mild epilepsy and i think the reason it got replaced was because of the strobing effects caused by pikachu electrocuting ash(i noticed them giving me a headache). comparing it to the first episode of the english dub(which started airing after the electric soldier porygon incident, meaning the footage used is the new version, also this footage does not give me a headache like the original one),it seems that the video was dimmed during those scenes.

Theres this big basement old merch shop in Shibuya where I can maybe find some people who would know/actually have some of this media. Also Im kind of a hobbyist when it comes to finding Japanese dubs of American media. Back to the Future in Japanese sounds really really cool.

In case you didn't know yet, if you are going to watch Akanuke Ichiban, I suggest not getting too invested in it. The ending is _extremely_ disappointing; it ends in a way that would probably get heaps of backlash if the anime was made in the present day.

It's miniscule in the grand scale of things, but I did help track down some of the Pink Crows scans by finding someone rad who happened to have some extremely rare early issues of - well, I want to say Animage but my memory fails me. I feel a lot of guilt as my ghosting from the whole thing wasn't intended; life has just slipped me by and my confidence in conversation in Japanese is not the best currently. I was actually approached by RavenWorks for help with contacting someone but I didn't know if I was up to it. I hope they've found their answers and they seem like a very lovely person. So much credit needs to be given to the incredible people who have worked to archive the songs and magazines; especially RavenWorks who archived their EPs and kicked the whole search off. It's interesting to see it covered even in an old video. I don't even know why I'm really posting this - perhaps to vent, or maybe so someone can read it.

First time on the channel, but I greatly enjoyed the video! My favourite piece of lost media in the video is probably the Pokémon Crystal DLC. I've always been fascinated with the GB Mobile Adapter ever since I read about it in a Pokémon magazine back in the day. Plus, gen 2 is one of my favourite generations, so seeing more content from that generation appeals to me a great deal. Overall, great video though! Also, I don't really want to pester you too much, seeing as I've found other comments asking about it already, but could you please list the music tracks? You used a LOT of really good music as background music in the video and I'd love to listen to them some more. Especially the music for the Nickelodeon (because I'm a synthwave junkie) and the Final Fantasy 64 parts.
