Would you do this experience? This is the outcome of Japan's secret treasure hunt, the 90-minute all-you-can-pick ceramics buffet in the porcelain town of Arita. There's a basic ¥5,500 course with mostly white pieces, but we opted for the ¥11,000 course with colourful pieces, and even some that the kiln sells for thousands of yen on their retail website! Previously I said we picked 28 pieces, but I miscounted! It ended up being 27 pieces, and we purchased a kingfisher soy sauce dispenser from their onsite shop.
This is one of the memories of Japan we'll carry around forever - maybe literally! We're treasuring our finds and making sure we're putting them to good use.
*Edit: the plates are herons, not storks! 😊😊
