IMHO glossolalia seems to be a more modern interpretation of the event of 'Speaking in Tongues' whereas it seems more likely to me that people in the past, writing an account describing the event, might be trying to describe someone who was a polyglot and speaking languages that were not known in their tiny little villages. People today might be using gibberish to participate in the event and/or put themselves into the 'loop' that was referenced in the video. Just a thought.

Similar story time: In highschool, I was your stereotypical "spooky" goth kid, but I've always been the type that gets along with just about anyone. I had been friends since early middle school with this very chill, (apparently) highly religious Southern Baptist girl. My dark sense of humor had never an issue in our friendship, until something called Spirit week. Basically football homecoming week and every day was a different themed dress up day at school. One of those days was a "job" or "career" themed day. So, as a gag, I decided to dress up as Death. My friend did not find the humor in it, and ceased talking to me as of that day. Lol. Come to find out later, the spooky factor was such an issue for her, that she didn't even celebrate Halloween.

I got to ask how does your 40 year campaign work? Like is it still in AD&D? I mean your campaign is old enough that it couldn't have started with the newer editions because they didn't exist yet. Also the question of level is a big one. Like do you just start pcs back at level 1 when they die and have just been making sure to off bits of the party before they get too strong, or is your party at an absurd level? I mean if they did one level per year they would be at double epic level. If you are going with absurd levels how do you even begin to balance things? How is progression done, is it the old system where gold gave you xp and you need xp to level, or did you shift to milestone?

I also have a creepy-ish childhood story. The path that led to my whole family leaving the church started with my dad catching ~ 12 year old me in the act looking at ritual knives online on my family's computer. I'd been interested in many religions, wicca and buddhism among them. I was studying a book of shadows website, compiling my own book of shadows, and browsing an online knife/sword shop for athames (wiccan ritual knives). My dad caught me in the act, and after a bit of mutual freaking out, I sat my parents down and explained to them how Christianity wasn't my thing. We couldn't find a form for me to quit the church membership alone, so my mom had to quit with me. And as I took the paperwork to my dad's office for him to sign, he asked "can you show me how the website works where you quit the church membership?" And that's the story of how my preteen wiccan phase led to my parents and I quitting our church membership.

Man, Murphy got fucking robbed. I always hate it when "judges" let their personal biases influence their critique instead of judging a work or piece on it's own merit. Like, it's a scene interpretation, his stated goal was to be as scary as possible, but they DEDUCT points for it being TOO scary?! Dafuq? Yeah, that makes sense, sure! I had a way less cool instance of a similar thing, class was doing a quizshow-style review game before a test, this unit was on the settlement of the new world and we had a bunch of pithy mnemonics for most of the info, so super easy stuff. I got one that was "what was Spain's primary motivation for settling in the new world?" Now, the mnemonic we had been taught for Spain's primary motivationS were "gold and god" but they asked about the primary motivation SINGULAR, and in my head I was going through everything I knew about the stuff Spain was up to at that time and in the decades on either side of that period, and I was like "okay, gold was clearly more important than spreading christianity for them", so I answered "gold". I got told I was wrong, question went to the other team and they said "gold and god" like we'd been trained to and they got the points. I was MAD, I argued with the teacher saying they asked the question in the singular, so the answer should be ONE THING, not TWO, that the entire unit they had spoken in the plural EVERY SINGLE TIME this came up in the unit, but anyone with half a braincell could look at Spain's actions at that time period and clearly tell which of those two things was more important so if you HAD to pick one, like for instance asking a question phrased in the SINGULAR, you'd pick fucking GOLD because that's obviously the correct answer! Teacher had none of it because the other team gave the answer he was looking for and I didn't, despite the fact that I answered the question that was fucking ASKED! According to him "you knew what I meant". No, I fucking did NOT, forgive me for assuming a professional educator would have the basic fucking competence to ask the fucking question he meant to! He even had the absolute GALL to try and say that because the text book didn't say gold was more important there was no way for us to know, as though it wasn't even remotely conceivable that we might have the ability to REASON AND THINK FOR OURSELVES? He didn't take it well when I said that just because HE was incapable of basic comprehension and drawing simple conclusions from evidence presented didn't mean the rest of us were similarly impaired. I got in SO much trouble that day, but I got that fucking question right and I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL!

so long story made short. I scared a woman so bad she peed and pooped herself. let me explain i volunteered for a haunted house back in like 2016-2017.I'm a bigger dude 6'2", probably around 280-300lbs. dawning my burlap sack and lamber jack flannel, carrying this big wooden cross prop. my "job" was to insure people didn't get lost after coming out of the strobe light room as it could be disorienting. i would point way then follow them setting them up for a 1-2 combo of a friend hiding in the dark room into this bright hallway, where i would wait till they got halfway down then slam the prop on the floor and sprint after them pounding on the walls the whole way letting other "characters" know that a group is coming. this one lady peed but the big one was this lady that as i started running and pounding the wall dropped to the floor crying in the fetal position. so i broke character took the mask off asked if she was ok, the other thing i could understood through her crying was "i think i need a bathroom ". yeah, i had to stop the next group as i had to clean the hall bc as soon as this lady dropped, she pooped, as i came up to her she peed herself. An before anyone calls me out, yes i led her to the bathrooms and got ahold of her group so she could clean up and change. even got a picture and signed a tee for her " i made you poop - Sorry"

1) in highschool after dantes inferno we were assigned the task of creating a presentation of how we would envision hell. My partner never contributed anything and even skipped class the day of the presentation. there were the other presentation where there were rooms where your had to listen to bad music performed live by certain people... Then I get up and talk about how the rebelling angels are all bound by unbreakable chains to upside down crosses and with deep wounds infested with serpents bred in their bodies, slithering out to swim through the shin deep boiling tar that was the ground. each sin had it's own island territory where each day you would respawn with energy drawn from those whose religion lead people away from 'the right path' and everyday you were driven out of the starting territory by monsterous beings to the feild of boiling tar where you would battle to the death every other person in hell. The last person standing is gifted a return to earth. Everyone else respawns at the territory of their greatest sin in life draining the vitality of the charlatans and false prophets, whose forms decayed like lepers... The class was in stunned in silence, and then they were supposed to ask questions it took a bit for somebody to ask "Why are you rewarding the sinner who beats all others sinners in fights to the death with getting out of hell?" and without a pause I replied, "So their sin and brutality for hundreds of years of killing and dieing in hell wars can come to earth and corrupt more people and condemn more to an eternity of fighting and dieing in hell." Absolute Silence. 2) in community collage, during a break between classes with my classmates, talking about various ways to sabotage all sorts of things and how cars can be set on fire really easily beecause they have accelerants, plenty of wicking materials, and electronics for ignition. the other students found that sobering... an hour later sitting in class taking notes from images projected up front, the overhead projector lens assembly catches fire and the entire class turns and looks right at me.

Christian here. One quibble with this whole thing: speaking in tongues isn't an involuntary action. It's a deliberate effort -- among those with the faith, it's basically praying to God in His own language for whatever needs to happen to be so. There is an "upwelling", but it's inspiration, not God wearing you like a sock puppet. You are completely free to do with it as you please, and you don't *need* to be inspired to do it. Tongues is just gibberish. God is the only person who needs to understand it. Doesn't change your story much since you're describing a psychological condition. If this kid thought speaking in tongues was God wearing him like a sock puppet, then he'd behave that way if he's been conditioned to do so.

Ahhhh, the old stories of Jason, I always love to her them. Not as scientificly as this one, but you should retell the time you cracked the Kobayashi Maru, way before anyone knew how to do it, or even how it worked. 😁

I like the way Jason tells his stories. 👍 Would love to play a D&D game with him. (Introduced to that game WAY back in the late 1970's)

The fact that Jason lost his virginity is the ultimate anomaly 😂 It should be it’s own stand alone MR episode. I love Jason but god that backstory is hilarious. Ponytail and all 😂😂😂😂

As a long-time watcher and some one who is very deeply Christian thank you for telling this in a way where you weren't just makeing fun of me for my faith and instead sought to explain what happened to Ronald. Thank you both. Keep doing what you're and god bless y'all.
