When people ask me my opinion on Hades I say the same thing every time. No hesitation. Game of 2020

This game is so good. I've sunk over 1000 hours into it on Switch since buying it physically on a whim while grocery shopping in October 2020. I did know it was good, the buzz was real around launch and I've played several of their previous games, but I did NOT expect to love it so much!

Oh wow 1000 hours is a TON. I haven't checked how many hours I've put into it yet. I know I've done over 100 escape attempts though. Only other games I can think of that I knowingly put over a thousand hours into would be games like Monster Hunter. That being said, I could easily see myself putting that many hours into this, purely because it's just so easy to sit down and play whenever.

Great video! BTW, Bastion is fantastic and can be cleared in 6 to 10 hours depending on if you do NG+ or not … highly recommended !!!

Hades was the first (and thus far only) roguelike I ever played, and it's pretty obvious from my stats. It took me *40* attempts to escape the first time, but since then I have approximately a 60% clear rate (98 clears in 167 attempts afterwards).
@SimplyAJ

So with that many attempts, one could assume you're probably excited for the sequel then, yeah? haha

@@SimplyAJ Absolutely! I didn't stop at the platinum trophy; I unlocked all the cosmetic items in the House and I'm currently making my way veeeeeeeeery slowly up the ranks given by the Resource Director, so I'll be happy to give up that grind for a new one xD

Thanks so much! Yeah, sometimes, its easy to pass up things, even if we're constantly told "just how good" it is, and unfortunately that can even be counter-intuitive to people actually TRYING games too haha.

I really love Hades, it is one of the most played games of mine beside Slay the Spire and Diablo I love it not as much as Kingdom Hearts or the Castlevania Games, but i play it more (I don't know if it still will be like that after i have everything)

Oh yeah, Hades is one of those games that, the moment I start thinking about it or talking about it with friends, I suddenly want to play it again, even if it's been months haha.

Hey there! I appreciate the sub dude, thanks a lot! So, in regards to the Emerald ROM for Jrose (assuming you mean the all Double Battles), that wasn't made by me, but by a guy named Atsign. Best I can do to help is point you over to his twitter: twitter.com/atsign8877 Hope that helps!

for me it was the exact opposite, i really enjoy almost all rougelikes and rougelites, and even tho i put almost 20 hours into hades, i just couldn't get into it, and it got boring real fast, the build diversity is very small unlike other rougelikes and it always felt same, and small amount of bosses didn't help either, but the story was interesting, ended up watching the whole thing online
@SimplyAJ
Жыл бұрын
Since I don't have all THAT much experience with roguelikes (since... ya know haha) outside of like this and like.. Risk of Rain 2, would you say that purely gameplay wise, it was lacking compared to them? Like, are they more prone to having a lot more "build" options than Hades?
@LukaTheGod
Жыл бұрын
@@SimplyAJ absolutely, in Rougelikes the whole fun is that you play a random seed, with a random build and the more build diversity the better, in some popular rougelikes like binding of isac and dead cells you can have tens or hundreds of runs without seeing some weapons or powerups and that just makes them more special when you do, for me the fun is in improvising, when you have to use and learn many weapons to have a chance to beat the game you learn the bosses and enemies much better, and you find creative ways to use some underpowered items, it helps the game feel alive and everchanging because bosses and enemies are not that complicated so you can have fun leading them, but in hades yes you can have a few changes with the dedalus hammer or few rare Boones but it's mostly damage or effects on top of what you already do, it rarely forces you to change the way you play completely
@SimplyAJ

@@LukaTheGod Ahh yeah fair enough! I actually do have Deadcells, and have been meaning to getting around to trying to at some point (especially now that it's getting Castlevania DLC) so, slowly, be surely, I seem to be dipping into Roguelikes more and more haha. Thanks for the info!

what about dead cells, have you played it?
@SimplyAJ

Actually, yeah! The moment I heard they were doing a Castlevania crossover, I decided to give the game a try, and ended up really enjoying it. I'd like to go back to it again at some point, as I didn't have ALL the DLC areas. I think one of my only real gripes is that the DLC areas are still discoverable on the map without HAVING the DLC? I didn't buy each and every DLC area since I wasn't sure if I was even going to like the game, but then I'd stumble across their entrances and just be like "oh, guess I don't get to go this way then" haha. But yeah over all, it was a pretty fun experience.

I have! I've really been enjoying it. It's an interesting experience compared to the first one. When I finally played Hades, the game was already complete, but with Hades II being in early access, there are still countless changes that will be coming. So it's been pretty cool to play, and then see an update that not only removes some abilities but adds brand new ones.
