Is there a need to "store" the KeyStore (trust store) ? If we just pass the created KeyStore to the TrustManagerFactory to create TrustMangers (en then set them in default SSLContext) without storing the KeyStore to a file, would it work ?

Hi, I commented out the line "keyStore.store(new FileOutputStream(trustStorePath), trustStorePassword);" in App.java Line 60 and 107 and all the test cases passed so you should be fine using it without storing it.

Is there any advantage in keeping certs in /lib/security folder?

java automatically looks for file called: cacerts and jssecacerts Advantage: you can add certs in these files and if you keep the password as 'changeit' then java will automatically pickup the certs in these files. Disadvantage: you need to remember the certificates that you added as every time you install new java version or even if it is minor update like upgrade from JDK11.01 to 11.02 then you will have to remember to copy the certs or jssecacerts to the new JDK lib/security folder
