Java in late December 1984 (and possibly into January 1985) - it was the very end of Javan Mainline Steam. In the East of Java, I found 4 locos in steam (B2301, D1105, D1107 and D52021). These would have been among the very last active PNKA/PJKA locos. I believe steam officially ended in 1984. I also visited Klakah (no footage) to find that the C11 (or C12) loco worked only in the morning and was safely tucked up in its shed in the afternoon. The order of the video is Malang, PG Kebonagung (locos being serviced in the off season), PG Ngadirejo (still milling in late December with locos in use), Kediri and finishes in Kertesono with one D52 in action and another one having its tender toppled to assist scrapping. We also see a C11 and B53 stored in the roundhouse there.
Originally filmed in NTSC VHS and later converted to PAL Digital Video, the quality leaves a lot to be desired but some of you will find the footage fascinating (I hope!). It was filmed about as close as you could get the the very end of steam on the national railways of Indonesia.
