Nice video guys. It looks really beautiful there. Added to our ever growing list. Random tip. Screw in tent pegs and a usb chargeable cordless screwdriver are a game changer, no bent pegs and no more peg mallet 😂

I was in Chamonix last year. Booked up for a return in February. Aiguille Du Midi was stunning but I was really short of breath up there! I remember the walk back up those steps from the glacier too 🙂

Yes, we both felt quite strange at the Aiguille Du Midi - a cross between travel sickness and exhausted!

Great video, I'm a regular skier at Chamonix, if you'd gone to the top of Aquille de Midi there's a feature called Step into the Void which is a glass box attached to the side if the rock face and you get a fantastic view all round and below.

Chamonix is such a beautiful awesome place to visit. We stayed at Camping de la Mer de Glacé a year ago and did the whole tourist thing also. We took the train to visit the glacier also and then the cable car and steps down to the entrance. It was an amazing experience walking through the glacier, did you not go in? Enjoying the videos

You didn't fancy going up to the top floor where you can stand on a see through glass floor above a sheer 1000m drop.

This was a fun video for me as I drive over the Fourclaz almost every weekend during the winter season, past Chamonix to get to Courmayeur for snowboarding and visit Chamonix whenever the weather prevents me from going on the slopes. I'm a bit disappointed you didn't see the stunning interior of the historic Rose du Pont cafe (it's the pink building by the river in town).

No problem at all to be honest. Once you get past the first roundabout everything starts to feel quite natural. It's only the ticket machines / pay stations on the autoroutes that can be a bit tricky if you travel on your own.

The glacier is getting smaller, yes. At that viewing station you are just seeing the very end/start of the glacier as it extends around the corner into it's full 7km length.

The Mer de Grace is now the sea of rubble along the greater part of its lower reaches. It is without doubt the accelerated rate of global warming. Perhaps more alarming than retreat is the rapid loss of depth to these ancient glaciers. In 15 years the depth of the Mer de Grace at Montenvers has dropped by 80 metres. Since the early 90s it has probably dropped by more than 125 metres. When I climbed there regularly 25-30 years ago just a couple of ladder lengths took us down to the glacier which was still ice not rubble. We could practice crevasse and crampon technique. Not possible any longer. Now, it requires an annual addition to the ladder system which is probably 5-6 times the length.
