If you ever get to go to one of the Bonneville events, even if you don't bring a car to run, do it. It is a mystical experience, and as he said in the video, the people are great! (I've gone twice and ran a 24 Hours of Lemons Opel GT. Top speed of 119 mph, but every second of it was fun.)

@@Frietpan They are just short of rare here in the US. Regarding Bonneville, here's my first issue as editor of The Blitz, and it is all about GTs at Bonneville. - www.opelclub.com/blitz/files/Blitz-2012-06.pdf

I'm an amateur photographer, and something like Bonneville Speed Week is Bucket List Stuff. I would love to document such a magical event! Oh, and I also have an MSc in Materials Science & Engineering, so I would drool from looking at all the insane hardware out there. Maybe help unfortunate folks who had mechanical failures with some on-the-spot attempts at failure analysis too.

6:30 at what point do you want to add weight, for example if you're running a small capacity naturally aspirated car at Bonneville, where the record might be 150 mph or less, you're probably running on the short course - is that correct? Do you want more weight for stability or is a low/medium weight car better, because you're running on the short course. Thanks for the video, big subject to cover in 10 minutes.

Don’t the salt flats corrode the sh!t out of your car? I imagine there’s bits of salt you’ll never get out.

Yep, that's why as soon as a car finishes a run teams often use spray bottles to try and get as much salt off the car as possible
