I was one of those fans that was quick to criticize Jay, but looking at it in hindsight, it's easier to see that he did a heck of a job working through all that dysfunction to actually produce something competitive on the field. What really changed how I viewed him once was learning that he actively fought against those terrible personnel decisions that marred the end of his tenure (not signing Kirk to a long-term deal, drafting Dwayne H, etc.). Luckily, he got paid well enough, so he'll be set the rest of his life.

Adams would be humming in JD's ear all the time to get targets and be a distraction. Thank God he isn't still the coach. Jay had similar talent in RG3, and he messed that up. JD is a better quarterback for sure, but guys like Jay are just the type that never uses the players' talent vs. their personal offensive system to run the team. Thus, the reason he wasn't very successful at coaching

Thank you for being honest. So many people have revisionist history as it relates to RG3. Sure the guy could have been a malcontent in some areas but Jay had no idea what he was doing as a coach and Cousins was the most milk toast player ever with elite talent. Jay didn’t know how to design plays because he was using his older brothers playbook which is why he didn’t know how to develop RG3 or any of the other talent around him. What little success Kirk had id attribute that to Sean McVay who is proven. The only reason why many people take Grudens side is because he befriended the Junks and they refuse to let him go but they criticize Ron but this guy had 5 years of bad teams and a record of 35-49-1 lol but he talks like he’s some savant stop it

RG3 is no Daniels. RG3 had such an ego that he thought he knew more than his coaches did. RG3 was a gimic offense QB. He couldn't read defenses, and he couldn't be a pocket passer as much as we wanted to because he didn't have the skills to read defenses, nor could he do it quickly. As bad as the offensive line may have been, he contributed to his sacks. And before you defend him, he wasn't good enough for the Browns and Ravens. Cousins is not milk toast. He's still playing, starting, and banking millions. Wishing RG3 to be great doesn't make it so.
