Jay second verse was the best verse of the song. Jay 2nd, Em 2nd, Em 1st, Jay 1st, in that order. Nas line that Em murdered you on your own song was a strategic line in an iconic ether diss. But in reality it was untrue and overblown and it was a response to Jay telling Nas he had the worse flow in the entire Ochie Wally song. This song was already done and out, it was Em and Royce Da 5'9 track that Jay heard and wanted for himself so he bought it, they took Royce off and the rest is history but still Jay couldn't out bar Em on it after already hearing his verses. You can find the original version out there, on here or whatever but this one is the superior version. Crazy thing is Royce has a lot of Em's material from "Dead Wrong" with BIggie in his original "Renegade" flows. Both of them killed it but Em did smoke him

Dex…lemme say that time has been more magnanimous to Jay Z regarding Nas’ opinion that Em murdered him on his own track. That was actually the prevailing opinion at the time. You know…their beef was still super hot in the streets and Nas was looked at as the victor, so everyone ran with what Nas said at the time.
