It was absolutely impossible to dislike Miss Mansfield. Men were captivated by her curves and women were captivated and charm by her innocence and the fact that she hauled all five of her children around wherever she went and always talked about them as much as or if not more than herself

Mansfield was a lovely Lady,very fine&very underrated actress:a strong presence so underused because of the puritanism&prejudice of people against sexy! But we couldn't even make a comparison between the 2! Monroe was a Super Star,the only one who really had made it,even over Harlow! Was in demand for major A list pictures&after 1956,she wouldn't even much care about them,anymore!Yet they kept on coming:despite illness,demons&disappointments, she still is the most recognizable face in the World!

After an evening appearance on June 28, 1967, Mansfield, and three of her children - Miklós, Zoltán and Mariska set out in a 1966 Buick Electra 225 for New Orleans, where Mansfield was scheduled to appear for a morning television interview. On June 29 at approx: 2:25 am, on U.S. Highway 90, east of the Rigolets Bridge, the car crashed into the rear of a semi-trailer. Mansfield and 2 others in the front seat were killed instantly, the children in the backseat survived with only minor injuries.

You Tube has three videos of Jayne as a guest on WML. From the hair and clothing my guess is that this visit to the show is from maybe 1965 to 1967. I'm positive it's from the 60's though the earlier ones are from 50's. I think one was 1956, the other not too long afterward.

It's funny how much her daughter looks like her, but doesn't move like her. In still pictures, they look alike, but in motion, they are so different. I wonder if that's Mariska Hargitay's deliberate attempt to distance herself from her mother's "sex symbol" legacy, or if it's just the result of losing her mother when she was so young, and thus not being able to observe her.

FWIW, Marilyn Monroe wasn't stupid, just uneducated. She grew up in foster homes, transferred schools a lot, and never went to high school. She still used to read for pleasure, and read a lot of serious authors of fiction like Tolstoy, as well as philosophers. She was once cautioned over some of the authors she was reading, as they were very leftist, and it was during the McCarthy hearings, but she refused to stop reading them, just said she'd be more discreet about reading them in public.

Normally I hated the way Jayne dressed in this era and her hair was usually a mess of two or three wigs stacked on one another but I have to say her makeup etc looks pretty good here if a bit dated. By 1966-67 a slightly more natural less sprayed hair look was coming in and this do was about 1964-65 but she does look good here despite her alcohol problems.

Jayne and Marilyn had what the other wanted. Jayne had a husband and beautiful children. Marilyn loved children but I think was infertile. Marilyn was an A-list starlet(now an obsolete word) but Jayne's talent and exposure was marginalized. Jayne also had talent and a sense of humor. Marilyn wanted children because of the horror of her own upbringing.
@geoffreyfox7741
3 жыл бұрын
Marilyn did love children but was not infertile. She had many abortions which caused internal scarring that blocked her fallopian tubes. This resulted in several ectopic pregnancies. Prior to her fame in movies, Marilyn had an unplanned pregnancy and gave birth to a child. She was pressured to put the child up for adoption. She was haunted by this decision for the rest of her life. Jayne destroyed her career with alcohol and drug abuse. Jayne made some powerful enemies at 2oth Century Fox. She was frequently pregnant which was in violation of her contract. Jayne had some hits with " The Girl Can't Help It" "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter" and "The Wayward Bus" but Fox stopped promoting her. She was never cast in an A list movie again. No properties were ever sought or bought for her. Fox held her hostage to a 7-year contract and farmed Jayne out to low budget B movie loan outs. Fox pocketed the loan out fee and Jayne got her regular salary. Her movie career was ruined. Jayne ruined the rest of her career with too much-overblown publicity, publicity stunts, and then her destructive behavior.
