Rodman wasn't always highly engaged in the game, though. He got benched once or twice during the Bulls' championship runs due to lackluster play and effort. I'll give him credit, though. When he was motivated to play, he was as good of a teammate and complementary player as you could ask for.

Totally. I hated him when he was in the NBA but now I realize that is just because he didn’t play for ‘my’ team. He was underrated, I think, one of the best non-scoring players ever. Of course, he did score, usually off put backs and alley-oops, but his main role was to piss off players on the other team and snag rebounds. He did that perfectly. I’ve come to respect Rodman for what his crucial role with the Pistons and Bulls (and Spurs somewhere in the middle...) Nobody like him before, nobody like him since. Truly one of the best to play in the NBA.

Ulysses432-NBA players of the past 25 years to the present, are by all measures, better than their predecessors. In athletics, players don’t get worse, they get better. MJ was the bridge, that’s why he’ll always be considered the greatest......even though LeBron James is statistically better.
@derfsiwel7444
6 жыл бұрын
Ulysses432-Obviously I didn’t mean “not good” in a literal sense, obviously there were good players. I’m not sure which era was more competitive, because competitiveness doesn’t measure how good you are. MJ’s era played more physical, while modern era relies heavily on IQ and help defense......which to me is more impressive. Anyone can throw elbows, forearms and flying knees to the chest to stop/beat their man.........but can you beat your guy by NOT doing those things, that’s ONE of many reasons why modern players are better.
@derfsiwel7444
6 жыл бұрын
Ulysses432-Let’s simplify. Without dipping into the modern pool, put together your version of the greatest team of all time. I’ll do the same, only mine will be from 2000 to the present. This way, we can get some type of visual. Ten players, must have at least two players for each position. Once we’re done, I’ll post our teams to my page and see what people think.
@derfsiwel7444
6 жыл бұрын
Ulysses432-Era rules are always the big issue (rightfully so). I look at it like this, if different era’s were to play each other, it’s not like the rules would be different for each era. If elbows and hand checks are allowed, that mean it would be allowed for everyone. If the rules are geared towards a modern league, then it would apply to everyone etc. So no matter how you look at it, eventually once you get past all the technicalities.....it’s going to come down to who’s the better player/team. PG: Iverson/Penny Hardaway SG:Kobe/MJ SF:LeBron/Pippen PF:Duncan/Garnett C:Shaq/Cousins I know, some of our players intersect era’s, but from both our teams, we can get a feel for what type of players compliments our personal preference. From looking at your team, you’re not too far off from my tier of players. I’m 35 btw, been watching hoops for as long as I can remember.

Jays Williams was a very serviceable big man. Great rebounder and solid team mate. Unfortunately 1 careless incident ruined a budding tv career... and took the life of another man. Sad scenario where nobody wins.

I believe defenders that came after Rodman copied his defence , but avoided his rebounding style as that took more effort. Instead more focus upon screening and boxing out which doesn't create a stat. I think in HIS era he knew he had to have a stat so he focused offensive rebounds. It forced a second possession and a reset of the shot clock.

I wonder if there was a tech called at the buzzer in a game 7 nba finals; and the bulls had 2 free throws with 0:00 on the game clock; down by 1 point...... Who would shoot the free throws? Jordan or Kerr? Do u think Kerr would want to? Or do you think they would go with Jordan? Do you think Jordan would demand to???
@nickc247
3 жыл бұрын
@@jrsmith1998Hard to say considering Jordan never played in a 7th game in the NBA Finals 😉 But with the '98 team, if Kerr was in the floor, Kerr shot the tech, otherwise MJ. Same with the earlier 90s championships, except replace Kerr with Hodges.

Shane Tyray he also liked that the refs had to motion his number with their hands to the stats table. It took longer to show 91 then other numbers people wore.
