Carnegie Hall, NYC, October 1978. An all-star show, opening with Steve Khan and his band; the second act, the Brecker brothers. Earl closed the show. I talked my way backstage, and told him he was one of my heroes. He autographed my program -- "Thanks! (signature)" Radio City Music Hall, 1989. He and Basia did a show sponsored by WQCD-FM (the "smooth jazz" station at the time). This song closed the show and the bass player tore the roof off the mofo! No autograph this time, but still magical.

It's included in my Fusion 80s Smooth Jazz playlist. I've been reading through the various comments and I now realize that I might want to do a KZitem search to see if there is a full album playlist for Crazy For You. I couldn't agree more with the other comments. Earl was certainly bringing the funk to the acoustic guitar as far back as Dr Macumba off of his '77 release, Finger Paintings. That was the first time that I had ever heard his recordings 😎🎼🎵🎶🎸
