You might not have the natural talent. I knew right away I didn't. This type of game requires insane timing and execution just to make the characters fight the way you want them to. Otherwise, you will lose matches just because you didn't get the inputs right, not because you don't know how to play.

3s has what feels like an infinite decision tree. win or lose, that moment where, out of all the possibilities, you chose without even thinking, that parry, that backdash, that ex dp, that red parry you've never landed but you felt the timing was right, that kara demon that was a total coin toss, that denjin that all it takes is a split second wrong release to get parried and lose all your meter... maybe this time you know exactly how theyll respond, next time and next opponent you probably wont, probably not the time after either. that moment is magic. you might be able to parry every super, know the frames on every normal and sggk every knockdown perfectly and still have your day ruined by a punk ken with perfectly timed sweeps and low forwards. that's the magic of 3s.

The vast majority of people that don't like fighting games, don't like them because it's a constant reminder of how incompetent *we* can all be. Excluding lag, fighting games do not provide any external factors to make one feel like a winner. *You* are responsible for both your wins and losses and that is something most people cannot deal with. It is really funny how our mind plays tricks on us and manages to justify our ego. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people claim to play a game for fun, but as soon as they lose they get upset and accuse the person the lost to of playing to win. It's crazy to see that they don't see the irony in their actions. In a way, they are right, they do play for fun. The only problem with this mindset is that they associate victory with fun.

This is what I don't get about most gaming companies, they don't seem to learn from their own masterpieces. Why would they ever mechanically downgrade a game that has hit everything so right? Thankfuly we can always return to older titles and maybe just never move on from them, but imagine that 3rd Strike had been released these days and mechanics like the parry would be patched and changed (if not removed).

Every publisher wants that Call of Duty money, that's why many of the games have suffered. Shareholders don't care how good of a game you've made, only how well it sells.
