Dope video man! I just did the Bilstein 6112 front and 5160 rear with the Jba HD Upper. That Upper bolt pain in the ass to get out but it finally does. Curious on your notch setup on the 6112 are you on the highest notch? If so, any worries about the CV angle? I'm on the top notch and have the diff drop but the angle still is just a tad much and am a little worried.

Thank you! 🙏🏼 yeah the sheer bolt can be a little tricky lol mine is currently set to the highest. No added strain on the CV. I’ve had it like that for well over a year. If you have your diff dropped then you have nothing to worry about. You should be fine.

Looking for a set of Uppers that are good in the harsh Canadian winters... Preferably not a rubber bushing, perhaps Urathane... and would not issues for alignment with 295/70s Wondering if these would fit the bill
@panahrama6961

These definitely fit the bill. The bushings are synthetic elastomer which is a long-chained polymer with many urethane constituents. Designed for high caster these won’t cause any issues when it comes to your alignment either. I’ve run them on both 285/75r16’s and 35x12.5 without any issues.

@@panahrama6961what was the offset on the wheels you had paired up with those two different sets of tires? Also was this with the Dobinsons MRR suspension?

@@andy.hanway at the time of this video the wheels I had on were I believe -10mm offset. When I made the jump to 35’s the SCS wheels were -38mm offset. These JBA’s were paired with the Dobinson MRR’s and I had no issues.

@@panahrama6961 I apologize for the delayed response, but I do appreciate your detailed video and the information given to me. I seen on your IG story after you got the Dobinsons MRR installed you took it to Toyota I’m assuming a Toyota dealership to get an alignment. usually dealerships will only set it to factory specs. What was the key to get a good alignment because I heard the JBA have a high caster bringing the tire more towards the cab. What did they do to achieve a good alignment and no rubbing? I’m planning on getting those JBA uca not sure if it will be the HD or standard version. Paired up with Dobinsons IMS or MRR but also looking at Locked off-road. Putting on 285/75/16 with SCS BR6 16x8 -12 offset. Hopefully I’m able to achieve a good alignment with those JBA and no rubbing and having to cut anything.
@panahrama6961

@@andy.hanway yes I took it to Toyota solely to get an alignment. If you take it to the dealership they will align it with factory specs. You have to specifically tell them that you want the caster pushed forward or they won’t do it. I found the sweet spot for me with my alignment is setting the Caster between 3.8 - 4.5 for the most clearance. This is my personal opinion, but I would recommend Dobinsons over Locked Offroad. The MRR’s handle extremely well Offroad and are very responsive. Plus the amount of adjustability is unmatched. With that exact setup you won’t have any rubbing issues. I ran that exact set up (JBA’s, 285/75r16, -10 offset) and I never rubbed 🤙🏼

Not sure what to think anymore. Don’t get me wrong, these UCAs are built great; but they did not fit my build as expected. Here’s what I mean: I recently installed these on my 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport. It has a 3” lift in the front 2” in the back. I am running 275/70/17 tires with a -25 offset rim. Also have a cab mount chop. The rest of my front suspension was stock. I replaced the stock UCAs with these. Immediately I got rubbing. Took it in for an alignment. Afterwards it still rubbed. I spoke with the tech afterwards who said there was no way to fix it. The installation instructions for these indicates 4.5 caster. The best the tech could do was 2.6 front left and 2.8 front right. I’m no expert on alignments, but these UCAs appeared to have given me less room in the back of the front wheel well by a large amount. Enough to no longer be able to clear 275s with a cab mount chop - which is honestly the only reason why this setup is still working. It may be due to my -25 offset rims; but now I’m left wondering if I should replace them or do some additional cutting for a new wheel setup in the future
@panahrama6961
Жыл бұрын
It sounds to me like you need to find a new alignment technician. I’ve maxed mine out at 4.5 Caster both driver and passenger side and I’m on a 3” suspension lift with 35” tires. I believe my last alignment after a trip up to Colorado I set my Caster at 3.8 both driver and passenger. I have zero rubbing issues on 315/70r17 tires with a 17x9 wheel with -38 offset. It’s not a UCA error, it’s a technician error. Be particular on who you take your vehicle too, because not every shop is familiar with every product. Nor does every shop have the capabilities to do after market adjustments. You should have no issues clearing that small of a tire with that amount of offset. That’s more than enough backspacing. Try a shop that’s more dedicated to Offroad vehicles.
