The JDPT is what happens when you mash two really good fish catching patterns together to create a new one. I've been trying to restock the steelhead boxes at the shop lately and needed a break and wanted to experiment at the vise. I was fishing the Jack Daniel nymph earlier in the week with a lot of success and wondered to myself if there was anything I would change. I loved the CDC collar on this fly and didn't want to change that. The one thing I thought that could make this pattern better was to make it two-tone. I love patterns with dark backs and light bellies. I tried a couple different materials for the back but the Pheasant tail just looked the best. The result was one of those nymphs that you look at and just say, now that's gonna catch fish. And it did!
Like always, please go to www.holsingers... for all of your fly ting and fishing needs. If you would like me to tie any of these for you please email me at holsingersflyshop@gmail.com and I will be more than happy to tie some up for you. Thanks for watching and supporting the shop and channel for all these years.
