You said that Basquiat's art aimed to criticize consumerism in America and followed it up with an ad that sells "portions of art". Art is not an investment, this is the problem. Go ahead and commercialize art, that surely won't ruin it's integrity.

The paintings look like they were done very quickly, so I think the interviewer was shocked at how slowly paintings were built. Basquiat was so insecure he personalizes any criticism; he had a huge chip on his shoulder. Seriously he "snatched quotes"( stole them because he did not give credit to the quoter), the Bssquiat snaps back "I didn't snatch them; i take them" ( Seriously why correct snatch with take? Oh he was trying to soften and control his narrative). Whole time Basquiat was also hiding his was an addiction. Probably got turned away from the theater, because he was high. He is thee person loaded with microagressions. He was looking for a fight...the fight was the foundation of his "poor oppressed and misunderstood genius". Meanwhile he was snatching concepts of others all around him...lol creating more or less hybrids of Art Brut & Voodoo Art meet Piccaso.

@@constancedenchy9801 what in the I just watched a short video and now I have a whole dissertation on Basquiat is going on here ? Nothing is original period. Art is all pulled from something, go read steal like an artist and give a dissertation on that because the amount of assumptions here is nuts. You may even have some points but it's overshadowed by this sorts judgemental tone. You're tryna discredit him like you know him and he personally did you wrong somehow.

Every good artist is a good thief. Anyone who knows their old painting history knows people steal--from reality, from the bible, from mythology from culture etc. Art has always been beautiful theft. The best artists are those who steal, but do so from multiple sources to create their own unique image and style...they add substance through subject and experimenting with concepts and visuals, but in the end they base their work off the people around them...art is iterative.

The video on Basquiat's life and art is a captivating tribute to a visionary artist who used his work to challenge societal norms. Jean-Michel Basquiat's art is a powerful reflection of the struggles and injustices faced by marginalized communities, and it's incredible to see how his legacy has continued to impact the art world. The idea of investing in art through Masterworks is an intriguing concept, offering a unique opportunity to both support the arts and potentially earn a return on investment.

3:06 I went to A&D with Ferg. I was 2 years ahead of him but I remember when his class hit the scene. It’s interesting to hear him talk about painting/making art. For a minute, I was like “what he know about…?” And then was like “dude, y’all was in the same art school” lol. Nevertheless, I think we should all see how to tap into our artistic inclinations, whichever whatever that might be. Sometimes I get so fixated on what I think my art should look like or what my music should sound like. So restricted. But I’d imagine that if we have such urges to be artistic, in any way, then surely the ability to create is there. This is a good video to help in that thought process.
